Default Massachusetts, Oxford Area

I'm trying to plan a weekend with camping in the Oxford area.

Last year I was laying this trip out and had found a perfect place. It seemed to be a camp ground with, what I thought, was two 18 hole courses on site. You paid a low fee for a campsite and got access to both courses. I believe there were facilities there as well. I thought it was near Oxford or between there and Sturbridge.

I've looked around and the closest thing i found was Pyramids.

The thing is i remember the site distinctly because it had some really interesting structures on a few holes. One basket was on top of a large wooden platform that you had to throw up into.

Anyone from the region know what i'm talking about, or about good places to camp in the that area for a weekend camping / DG trip?

I believe you're referring to Charlton Woods which has since closed down.

Another option in that area is West Thompson Lake. There is a campground and course on site.

If you're looking for campsites near Oxford... I can recommend the one at West Thompson Dam or Wolf Den State park in Connecticut... but there are many others around...

the Local Courses to Oxford are:
Hodges Village Dam (which I'm told is getting a revamp)
Buffumville Dam
Hyland Orchard

just South is West Thompson Dam...

just North is Worcester and Pyramids...

Sutton (next to Oxford) has some nice campgrounds on a lake

hope that helps
