I appreciate the replies about a non-beaded Wasp. I celebrate a mixed bag so if you have any non-Discraft recommends I'll consider those too.

Agreed.

Hornet has a small bead. But also shaped differently than traditional beaded mids like the Roc and Wasp. It doesn't bother me, but if you're really sensitive to beads, and don't mind other brands, try a Verdict. Very high resistance to turn, good glide, mild fade- just like the Hornet I like to throw. Verdict still has a micro-bead, but it's about as small as could be.

I don't think any disc has the flight of a Wasp without the bead. Even with a bead, nothing is perfect.
Here are the closest:
  • DGA Quake: More OS
  • MVP Tensor: Slower and less glide.
  • EMAC Truth: faster and less glide, more dump. Buzzz OS-ish?
  • Kastaplast Kaxe: Faster but same flight shape, doesn't power down as well. semi beaded
  • Envy: yes, it's a putter, but it has the same flight shape, just shorter.
.

I throw a Proline Banzai in this slot. It's very dependable, maybe not Raptor stable (if what everyone says about it is true), but you can rip on it in a headwind and not worry about it flipping

I was basically looking for a FB type disc, but the Pred feels weird, the Machete is too fast, and I think the Flick would be too shallow, but it has been a while since I've thrown one.

Wait to try out a raptor. If not, you could go the old school route. Try a pulse or a crush. Both great for FH shots and slower than a machete.

I just stumbled upon those older cryZtal-FLX trackers that molded up 3+ stability. It’s basically a beefier flat top firebird. I’ve been loving it.

I had one of those Trackers, and the only thing I've ever thrown that was more OS was a Stego. It was really comfy for FHs though. I know the Tracker is "OOP", but how much more OS are they normally than an UT?

I used to love my hornet til I lost it and learned it went out of production. I replaced it with a verdict. I feel like the verdict is the zone's bigger brother, and as such, my verdict doesn't see as much use
