I like it because of the glide and stability. I always know what it will do. I like the way it’s large diameter fits in my hand. Rolls like a champ. Otherwise, it’s like any other somewhat OS mid. Honestly, there are probably 50 other discs that do the same thing but I like the condor.

Played a round yesterday and got some practice today. The wind was up but it was fun anyway. Turns out that my bag was missing a disc for straight approaches. So I might swap the Magnet for the Bullfrog as it makes a very good putter and straight approach disc. Might just keep both. Still loving the Zone for everything short to midrange OS. Got in some good throws with the champ sidewinder. Tried some backhand rollers with the sidewinder, river and leopard 3.
Bag should look like this:
XT Bullfrog or Soft Magnet
DX Condor
Color shift Z Zone
Origio Tursas
Opto River
Champ Teebird
Champ Sidewinder
DX Thunderbird

Played a round today, +6. Still really leaning on my Zone for approaches whenever possible. The DX Condor has gotten beaten in a bit and now when I throw it hard it just goes dead straight. Still shows fade when powered down but a good hard rip produces straight lasers. Wasn’t really feeling the Magnet today so I’m going to give the Bullfrog and the Roach another try at my putter slot. Tried some backhand rollers from the tees, I did not do well with them. More field work is needed there. The Opto River and Champ Teebird filled my fairway slots very well. So I’m going to try my bag like this:
Putting: Soft Glo Roach and XT Bullfrog
Midrange: stable DX Condor
US Origio Tursas
OS Z Zone
Fairway: US Opto River
OS Champ Teebird
That leaves one open slot in the bag but I’m not sure what disc to put in there. TBD.

DX Teebird will go in the empty bag slot.

Played a round on a particularly short course yesterday. Used it as a opportunity to test my putters and a couple of mid ranges. I think that I’m going to go back to the Soft Glo Roach for putting and short approaches for a while. So as of today the bag will be:
Putting putter: Roach
US Mid: Origio Tursas
OS Mid: Z Zone
Stable Mid: DX Condor
US Fairway: Opto River
OS Fairway: Champ Teebird
Stable Fairway: DX Teebird
Distance driver: Champ Sidewinder

That’s it for now anyway.

My first tournament is in less than a week. I’m playing the grand opening of a new course so I won’t be able to practice it beforehand. It appears to be heavily wooded. Also, because I’ve had a bit of a problem with deciding which discs to carry, I’m going to carry a different bag so I can have all of my favorite discs with me. Going into it my bag will consist of:

Soft Magnet for putting
XT Bullfrog for straight approaches
Origio Tursas for US Mid stuff
Z Zone for OS Mid stuff
DX Condor for stable mid/roller stuff
Opto River for US Fairway
Champ Teebird for OS Fairway
DX Teebird for stable Fairway
Champ Sidewinder for US Distance
Z Crank for stable distance

Had a lot of fun at the tournament on Saturday. Didn’t shoot a great round but had a ton of fun. I really enjoyed the competition and I’m already certain that I will sign up for more. Overall I came in 20th out of 25. Learned some things about what my discs can and cannot do. The Zone is definitely my favorite approach disc. So moving forward my bag will be:

Putter/ touchy approaches: Soft Magnet
US Mid: Origio Tursas
Stable mid: DX Condor
OS Mid: Z Zone
US Fairway: Opto River
Stable Fairway: DX Teebird (beat)
OS Fairway: Champ Teebird

This setup will leave one open slot in my bag that I want to use for either a utility disc or a distance driver. Not sure which yet.

I’ve made some changes to my bag:

Soft Magnet: putting and straight approaches
Z Zone: OS midrange/approach disc
DX Condor: stable midrange
Origio Tursas: US midrange
DX Teebird: stable Fairway driver
Opto River: US Fairway driver
Champ Firebird: OS driver

For the last slot in the bag I’m going to get a new disc. I’m thinking that I need something lightweight and somewhat US to use for max D.

I’ve signed up for two more tournaments this spring. I need to spend some more time practicing with the same set of discs to become as familiar with them as possible and I think I can cover all the lines I need with the setup from the last update with the addition of a 150g Pro Tern that absolutely bombs. It’s very touchy and has to be thrown just right but it is my longest disc by probably 50 ft. I’m also swapping the DX Teebird for my Champ Teebird. The DX has taken too many tree hits and is no longer as stable as I want it to be while the champ has mellowed out a bit and lost some of its once considerable fade.
