I like the rim feel, they feel bulkier than regular Rocs. Something about it makes me think I'm getting a better grip on them.

I have questions.

First, is it possible to buy Champ Rocs other than USDGC Rocs?

Second, there are lots of USDGC Rocs available, but it seems they’re all the “Roc+”. Have non-plus versions been made recently? If no, what year did they go to the plus mold?

Third, of the USDGC Roc+’s from the last several years, is there a particular year that’s considered “better”? Flatter/domier? More/less overstable? Let’s say I’m looking at the 2014-2017 USDGC Roc+’s, since there seems to be several available for at least somewhat sane prices.

Finally, I’m assuming they’re embossed rather than penned these days- if so, anyone know what year they started embossing them?

As a follow-up, would I just be better off getting a Champ Roc3?

If you're talking Rancho Rocs, I have seen a lot of non plus molds available (though some will say the recent ones feel like they have some plus to them.) Easiest way I found to get them for a low price is on the Facebook auction groups. Got a new/unthrown double stamped Air Raid 2016 USDGC for $12, nice flattish Champ Roc.

The 30 year Roc is the San Marino mold in luster Champ, supposed to be a good flyer but I haven't thrown one of those yet.

The Millennium Taurus is basically a Champ Roc; I got some of the first runs and they are penned "RX" and fly like a Rancho Roc.

Don't know if they are embossed these days; most recent USDGC I have is from 2017 and it is not embossed, so not embossed at least up to that year.

As for getting a Roc+ or a Roc3 it depends on what you want from the disc and if you prefer a certain feel. Do you mind the feel of plus mold discs? Not sure if any of the plus molds are considered "better."

Yes, every year for USDGC regular Champ Ranchos are released.

Possibly. Across the board regular Ranchos are regarded as better than the Roc+'s.

Most likely. Quantum Taurus or Elite Z Wasp would do the trick as well for less hassle and similar feel to a Champ Rancho.

Not one of the many champ roc3 I have thrown has been as beefy as my champ rancho.

Depends what you want a champ roc for?

That depends. If you are a Roc thrower and prefer Rocs to Roc3's, no. Champ Rocs are not going to be in a store for you to pick through, but they are easy enough to get.

If you just kinda sorta like Rocs but want something in a premium plastic, sure. You could also get a Z Wasp or a Pinnacle Ghost or a Q Taurus or a VIP Bard or basically anything that is HSS. You would just be shopping for an easy-to-get champ-like plastic mid with 0 turn.

I'd be that guy and ask why you're looking for a Champ Roc in the first place. While they're easy enough to source, of all the plastic types I've thrown, Champ's been my least favorite with Star being very close behind.

Considering a KC Roc can spend close to a decade in a bag (unless you play on gravel), has great grip in all conditions, and flies so well, I don't know why there's a need for a more premium blend. The same argument could be made for DX which is honestly even better except at the fresh stage where I like a little more beef.

I would recommend trying a Diamond Prophecy.

Reptilian Gila in a choice of 3 plastics would be a great choice. Baseline is Fossil (like the old KC plastic), the other choices would be Amber( I believe is Champion like) or Armor (I believe is Star like).

Funny how every comparison is to Innova plastic.
