I once found a deer skull and propped it on top of one our baskets, where it stayed for a year or more. At a tournament someone claimed he missed a putt because the skull was staring at him.

One downside of a basket topper, at least of any significant size, is that it stops a really bad putt that otherwise would sail past, hopefully far enough to give the player an opportunity for another really bad putt.

I think they did that at the nati freezer bowl dubs winter before last...

I always thought there was a business idea for round, wood basket toppers that sit about 3" proud of the top of a basket. Yea, they may stop some shots but it could be argued that a shot that close should be stopped.

Anyways, they would make it good for identification if the toppers were painted a bright color. Think of it as a Discatcher style yellow band that could be retrofit to any target and customized with club graphics, colors, hole#, sponsor info, etc.

Now, somebody with more time and resources, go!

Cool, another way to make greens more difficult.

"Now, on this hole, you want to try to land on the side where the deer ghost isn't hexing your putt."

Someone did that at my local course on 9, I took it off immediately. Personally I think that doesnt do any good for the image of disc golf.
