... and you can't change your vote, so it is hard for me to vote on a course i haven't played. that said if the review is amusing/entertaining, it's getting a helpful vote from me

Fair enough. I have to assume the reviewer's facts are right. If they arent' then their review is worse than not helpful. It's misleading.
That's why I value reviews from TR's, particularly gold and diamond TR's.. not saying they can't be wrong. But they have amassed a body of work that a pretty good # of people think is helpful in the "which course should I play" decision making game. I think it helps to find a few reviewers who describe courses you've played similarly to how you'd describe them. That tells you they're looking for a lot of the same things, and see things pretty similarly, to how you see things. Nothing is fool proof. Courses changes over time, conditions change, and things might have been great when they played it and the course was new, but if maintenance has been shoddy or vandals have been unkind, an older review that may have been accurate when it was written, may be totally misleading years later. |

Your other option is determining if that elementary school 9er is really a 3.4 reading the 7 Udisc blurbs about it. A 3.4 on Udisc basically means only one basket is missing and there's no tees or signage. But there's some sick ass ace runs brah. Plus it's close to a taco bell. It's user generated information. Determine what users you trust more I guess. There's basically 2 choices.

Anyone who takes time to write a good review (content, not accuracy), can usually be trusted to have accuracy in the content as well. The trusted reviewer levels certainly help this. Not that those who write long reviews don't make mistakes, but it is usually things like Mach V vs Mach X baskets, plenty of parking (TU morning vs SA afternoon), bathrooms open April 1, etc. The actual course descriptions are usually spot on. Another item to look at is number of courses played by a reviewer. 500 courses played--this person knows what makes a course great.

Farted, maybe.
... but I was saving the crap for bronzes. ![]() Kidding aside, the first few things I do when checking out reviews is: Filter for TR's. Sort by most helpful Look for names of reviewers I've determined share my DG values from having read their reviews. After years of plunking around this site, you kinda get a feel for where certain people are coming from. |

I'm guessing the overwhelming majority (like 90%+) of all courses added to this site are from people noticing a course is on UDisc, but not here. I've done that for a lot of courses that I discovered on the other site.
