Default Last minute DFW trip. 1or 2 must plays?

Will be arriving in Dallas Friday afternoon (2/10/17) No definite plans yet but will likely be flying out on Saturday. Any courses I should absolutely try to play while I'm in town? I would have Fri. afternoon/evening and Sat. morning available.
I may have a local to show me around but would like to have a back up plan just in case. Still unsure where I will be staying or what my transportation options are so I'm open to any and all suggestions.
Thanks in advance.

Hmm, here are my top 5, but of course this is very subjective. What are you looking for: long, difficult, scenic?
  • Harry Meyers. This is east Dallas, can also play Audubon before/after if desired.
  • Z Boaz
  • Cedar Hill (two courses in one)
  • Turner Park
  • Lake Park

^ Thanks. I think we are going to try to do Z Boaz Saturday. I'll take a look at your other suggestions. I guess I'm looking for scenic and fun first. Don't want to get beat down by anything overly long or difficult, but also not anything too short.

Just a heads up: Saturday a 180 packed field will be playing Cedar Hill (Beaver / Coyote).

Very good point, I totally spaced that. You might avoid this, as it will probably be busy pre-tourney as well.

Two that I like playing same-day are Fritz Park and Turner Park, not too far from each other. They are both cool layouts. Fritz has a bunch of really big, old pecan trees that I think makes it quite scenic. Turner has elevation changes, variety, and a few long holes.

Veterans Park and North Park are two more in the Arlington area that are quite fun. Veterans is kind of hard to play at first unless you're with some locals though.

If scenic is what you're looking for, Fritz, Turner, Harry Myers are mandatory. And all 3 provide NT worthy challenge in my opinion.

Thanks for the info, guys! Looks like I'll be trying to hit up Turner and Fritz Friday afternoon. If anyone can make it out for a round that would be awesome. Hit me up here or PM me and we can plan to meet up. I'm leaving Saturday morning planning up to my local guide but hopefully will be Z Boaz and Veterans.

One factor is where in DFW you are staying?
Ft. Worth and Rockwall are pretty far apart.
If staying in North Dallas/Frisco area you should also consider Towne Lake.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'm staying in Grapevine. I managed to play Turner and Fritz this afternoon. Plan is to hit up Veterans in the morning and possibly Bear creek if time allows before I have to catch my plane out. I really hope to hit Z Boaz and Trophy club next time. There will be a next time for sure. It was really windy this afternoon which made things interesting but I really enjoyed the courses I got to play.
