Default Eric's 2017 Bag

Really I just wanted somewhere to track how much my bag changes over time but advice on the bag is always appreciated.

A bit on me:
RHBH and LHFH (Working on LHBH but its pretty bad at the moment). Currently 911 rated but playing above my rating, consistently 940-960ish. I'm playing advanced at the moment but moving to open in 2018. I max out around 440' but consistently throw distance drivers about 400', fairways 350', mids 290-300', and putters 260-275'.

My Bag:
Distance Drivers:
Color Glow Champion Destroyer - New to my bag. Need a distance driver with some beef so I'm going to test this out.
INNColor Star Shryke - Most stable of my Shryke cycle. Stands up to flat and glides to a soft finish. Use for long hyzers.
Star Shryke - Beat in pretty well. It's not really used much but it was a gift from Philo and I don't want to take it out of the bag.
Color Glow Champion Shryke - Maximum distance driver. Long flex shots.
Champion Shryke - Flippiest Shryke. Use for long turnovers.
Champion Tern - Use for maximum distance rollers. Its REALLY flippy.

Control and Fairway Drivers:
2017 Sexton Firebird - Firebird things and flex forehands.
Champion Savant - Longer Teebird disc. Straight shots with a gentle fade.
Jen Allen Teebird - Overstable Teebird. I use it for soft flexes and 350 and in hyzers.
Glow Champion Teebird - Lazer beam shots with a minimal finish. Main forehand driver.
Gold Line River - Slow turnovers and main driver in the woods. (Living in eastern PA, this is my most used driver)
Opto River - Flippiest disc I own. I use it for backhands out of awkward footing and rollers 300' and in.

Mids:
Luster Champion Gator - New to the bag. It's replacing a RocX3. The Roc wasn't as overstable as I wanted. The Gator is super flat and very beefy.
Champion Roc3 - Straight to fade workhorse mid.
McGlow Roc3 X2 - Just got these but hoping they cycle like McPros do. Will use these for straight shots in the woods. Which is a lot of shots.
2016 McPro Roc3 - Beat up McPro that is perfect for long turnovers that have just a sliver of stability left.
Z Comet - Woods turnover mid. Does Comet things and floats forever to the right.

Putters:
D-Line P1x X2 - Putting putters. I really love the float on these things.
Bt Medium Harp - This thing is BEAT up. Powered down it still does gentle hyzers but when thrown hard, its like a mini-Teebird. Absolutely straight with a small small fade.
Xt Nova - Beat up pretty well. Dead straight to slow turnovers. Dead straight forehand approaches.

8/8 Update:

Lost the Sexy bird to a pond. That, the Savant, and the Jen Teebird are all very similar so the Jen Teebird is out of the bag as well. Stuck a stock glow champion Firebird in for utility and a G-star Tern in because I have a tournament at French Creek in a couple of weeks and will need it for distance in the woods.

The McGlows are here to stay as well. Super straight out of the box and have great glide to them.

How are the McGlows compared to past McRoc3s? More stable? Different feel?

Fresh out of the box, the McGlows feel a touch straighter than last year's McPro. But the feel is like a stiff grippy pro which I love.

Finally have major movement in my bag. Lost a few discs and took the opportunity to condense the molds. Biggest changes are the Rivers are out and Leo3's are in. I like the grip and feel a lot more and they have the same flight. Also out is a lost tern which is replaced by a flippy Shryke.

My Bag:
Distance Drivers:
Star Destroyer - Fairly fresh McBeth 4x that is kept from windy days
Champ Shryke - Most stable of Shrykes. Will fight out of Anny's.
Champ Shryke - Back up stable Shryke.
INNColor Star Shryke - Lazer straight Shryke. 410'-ish with not much lateral movement.
Color Glow Champ Shryk - Max distance Shryke. 440-450' lines.
G-Star Shryke - Kept in bag for big turnovers.
Champion Tern - Use for maximum distance rollers. Its REALLY flippy.

Control and Fairway Drivers:
Color Glow Champ Firebird - Overstable utility disc and forehand roller.
Champion Savant - Dead straight with a small, baby fade at about 375.
Glow Champion Teebird - Lazer beam shots with a minimal finish. Main forehand driver.
Color Glow Champ Leopard3 - Slow flip ups and turnovers.
G-Star Leopard3 - Flippy utility and short range rollers.

Mids:
Luster Champion Gator - This is wonderfully overstable. The Gator is super flat and very beefy.
Champion Rocx3 - Straight to fade workhorse mid.
McGlow Roc3 X2 - Just so straight. Can push these 310' without lateral movement
2016 McPro Roc3 - Beat up McPro that is perfect for long turnovers that have just a sliver of stability left.
Z Comet - Woods turnover mid. Does Comet things and floats forever to the right.

Putters:
P-Line P1x X2 - Current putting putters. I like the firmness a bit more than D-Line.
D-Line P1x X2 - Switching in and out with the P-Line. Might make the bag as it gets colder out.
Bt Medium Harp - This thing is BEAT up. Powered down it still does gentle hyzers but when thrown hard, its like a mini-Teebird. Absolutely straight with a small small fade.
Xt Nova - New Nova that doesn't flip.
Xt Nova - Beat up pretty well. Dead straight to slow turnovers. Dead straight forehand approaches.

Offseason is finally here so it's time to condense the molds and start to cycle fresher plastic. I'm going to be spending a lot of time in the field this winter to prepare for my jump from MA1 to MPO.

Goals for this winter are:
  • Distance drivers to 460-475' consistently (Currently at 425-440')
  • Fairways/Control driver to 400' consistently (Currently 350-375')
  • Mids to 300-325' (Currently 285-310')
  • Putters to 300' (Currently 250-275')
  • Putting confidence to 40' (Currently 25-28')
  • Get LHBH power up to 300' confidently (Currently 150-175')

My Bag:
Distance Drivers:
Star Destroyer - Fairly fresh McBeth 4x that is kept for windy days.
Champ Shryke - Most stable of Shrykes. Will fight out of Anny's.
Champ Shryke - Back up stable Shryke.
INNColor Star Shryke - Lazer straight Shryke. 410'-ish with not much lateral movement.
Madison Walker Color Glow Shryke - Fresh Shryke to start cycling in the flippier spots.
Color Glow Champ Shryke - Max distance Shryke. 440-450' lines.
G-Star Shryke - Kept in bag for big turnovers.

2016 McPro Roc3 X2 - Beat up McPros that is perfect for long turnovers that have just a sliver of stability left. One is significantly more beat up than the other.

Putters:
D-Line P1x X2 - Switching in and out with the P-Lines. Will use the D-Lines for putting duties this winter.
DX AviarX3 - New to the bag. Hoping to cycle it like base plastic Harps.
Xt Nova - Newer, doesn't flip crazy fast but will hold any line out to 275-280'.

Season Begins this Sunday at the Codorus Ice Bowl. I decided to stay in MA1 for the year as Am Worlds will be coming to my town for 2019. So I will have some extra time to prepare for MPO.

Goals for this winter are:
  • Distance drivers to 460-475' consistently (Currently at 425-440')
  • Fairways/Control driver to 400' consistently (Currently 350-375')
  • Mids to 300-325' (Currently 285-310')
  • Putters to 300' (Currently 250-275')
  • Putting confidence to 40' (Currently 25-28')
  • Get LHBH power up to 300' confidently (Currently 150-175')

My Bag:
Some minor switches here and there for the bag. Consolidating Shrykes for my cycle and working towards all star plastic for drivers. I just don't love Champion plastic's feel in the hand. Also added the Hyperion to the bag.

Distance Drivers:
Hydro M Hyperion - New to the bag, hoping to be a wind fighter without sacrificing too much distance.
Champ Shryke - Most stable of Shrykes. Will fight out of Anny's.
Star Shryke - Freshest of my Shrykes.
INNColor Star Shryke - Lazer straight Shryke. 410'-ish with not much lateral
Color Glow Champ Shryke - Max distance Shryke. 440-450' lines.
Star Shryke - Oldest Shryke in the bag. Workhorse of my distance drivers.
G-Star Shryke - Kept in bag for big turnovers.

Control and Fairway Drivers:
Color Glow Champ Firebird - Overstable utility disc and forehand roller.
Champion Savant - Dead straight with a small, baby fade at about 375.
Glow Champion Teebird - Lazer beam shots with a minimal finish. Main forehand driver.
Star Leopard3 - Fresh, straight to turnovers.

DX AviarX3 - Overstable approaches. Windy putts.
Xt Nova - Newer, doesn't flip crazy fast but will hold any line out to 275-280'.

Really cold these last two weeks and my play showed it. Both first rounds consisted of me missing every putt possible while playing much better in the final rounds after the day heated up a few degrees. No sanctioned play until late February and finally being healthy means I can start my offseason work to prepare for the warm weather!

Goals for this winter are:
  • Distance drivers to 460-475' consistently (Currently at 425-440')
  • Fairways/Control driver to 400' consistently (Currently 350-375')
  • Mids to 300-325' (Currently 285-310')
  • Putters to 300' (Currently 250-275')
  • Putting confidence to 40' (Currently 25-28')
  • Get LHBH power up to 300' confidently (Currently 150-175')

My Bag:
Only changes were the Teebird being taken out and replaced by a new Savant, and the X-lines being swapped in for putting.

Hyperions are awesome. That is all.

Distance Drivers:
Hydro M Hyperion X2 - Wind Fighter. Big hyzers. Maxes at 375' but will not flip ever.
Star Shryke - Freshest of my Shrykes. 410-430'.
INNColor Star Shryke - Lazer straight Shryke. 410'-ish with not much lateral movement.
Color Glow Champ Shryke - Max distance Shryke. 440-450' lines.
Star Shryke - Oldest Shryke in the bag. Workhorse of my distance drivers. 420-450'.
G-Star Shryke - Kept in bag for big turnovers. 375-425'.

Control and Fairway Drivers:
Color Glow Champ Firebird - Overstable utility disc and forehand roller. 280-340'.
Champion Savant - Newer run of Savant that has more HSS than my beat up one.
Champion Savant - Dead straight with a small, baby fade at about 375'.
Star Leopard3 - Fresh, straight to turnovers. 300-375'.
G-Star Leopard3 - Flippy utility and short range rollers. 280-330'.

Mids:
Luster Champion Gator - Super beef. Big hyzers and flex flicks. 250-275'.
Champion RocX3 - Straight to fade workhorse mid. 265-290' hyzers.
McGlow Roc3 X2 - Just so straight. Can push these 315' without lateral movement
2016 McPro Roc3 X2 - Beat up McPros that is perfect for long turnovers that have just a sliver of stability left. One is significantly more beat up than the other. 280-310'.

Putters:
X-Line P1x X2 - Switching in and out with the P-Lines and D-Lines. Will use the X-Lines for putting duties when less than 30 degrees, D-Lines from 30-60 degrees, and P-Lines for anything warmer.
DX AviarX3 - Overstable approaches inside of 275'. Windy putts.
Xt Nova - Point and shoot to 285'. Beautiful turnovers. Flick putts.

The season is right around the corner so I'm fine-tuning what I can around my new work schedule. I have ~25 events on the schedule for 2018 with 2 coming up the last weekend of February: Kiltlifter Open and Road to Am Worlds.

Goals for this winter are:
  • Distance drivers to 460-475' consistently (Currently at 425-440')
  • Fairways/Control driver to 400' consistently (Currently 350-375')
  • Mids to 300-325' (Currently 285-310')
  • Putters to 300' (Currently 250-275')
  • Putting confidence to 40' (Currently 25-28')
  • Get LHBH power up to 300' confidently (Currently 150-175')

My Bag:
A few changes here and there. I hate drivers in Champion plastic so until production Star Savants exist, Star Teebird3's are here to stay.

More Shrykes and more McGlows as well.

Distance Drivers:
Hydro M Hyperion X2 - Wind Fighter. Big hyzers. Maxes at 375' but will not flip ever.
Star Shryke - Freshest of my Shrykes. Suuuupperr long hyzers. 410-430'.
INNColor Star Shryke - Lazer straight Shryke. 410'-ish with not much lateral movement.
Star Shryke - Flippiest of the stars. Long turnover lines. 440-450' lines.
Star Shryke - Oldest Shryke in the bag. Workhorse of my distance drivers. 420-450'.
G-Star Shryke - Flippy utility. Bad footing distance shots. Rollers. 375-425'.

Control and Fairway Drivers:
Color Glow Champ Firebird - Overstable utility disc and forehand roller. 280-340'.
Star Teebird3 - Heavier of the 2. Has more HSS than the lighter one. Big hyzers. 330-360'.
Star Teebird3 - Dead straight with a small, baby fade at about 375'.
Star Leopard3 - Fresh, straight to turnovers. 300-375'.
G-Star Leopard3 - Flippy utility and short range rollers. 280-330'.

Mids:
Luster Champion Gator - Super beef. Big hyzers and flex flicks. 250-275'.
Champion RocX3 - Straight to fade workhorse mid. 265-290' hyzers.
2018 McGlow Roc3 - Got a nice stack to new McGlows to work into the bag.
2017 McGlow Roc3 X2 - Just so straight. Can push these 315' without lateral movement
2016 McPro Roc3 - Beat up McPros that is perfect for long turnovers that have just a sliver of stability left.

The season is here and I'm about 7 tournaments deep already with 1 MA1 win. A few really good rounds and a few not so great rounds. Staying above 900 on the rounds but bad upshots are hurting potentially great (970-980) rounds.

Goals for this season:
  • Get to 975 rated.
  • Stay in the top 5 in MA1 all year.
  • Have 1500 points by June.
  • Move to MPO for the rest of the season and cash at least 5 times (Not accepting though)
  • Throw at least 4 more 1000 rated rounds.

My Bag:
Some bag consolidation and some mold switches as I learn what is working for me. Hyperions and Nova are out.

Distance Drivers:
Bottom Stamp Star Destroyer - Wind Fighter. Big hyzers. 400'.
Star Destroyer - Fresh McBeth Destroyer. 400-410'.
INNColor Star Shryke - Freshest of my Shrykes. Suuuupperr long hyzers. 420-430'.
Star Shryke - Lazer straight Shryke. 440'-ish with not much lateral movement.
Star Shryke - Workhorse of the stars. Max distance golf lines. 460-480' lines.
Star Shryke - Oldest Shryke in the bag. Flippiest of my Stars. 420-450'.
G-Star Shryke - Flippy utility. Bad footing distance shots. Rollers. 375-425'.

Control and Fairway Drivers:
Color Glow Champ Firebird - Overstable utility disc and forehand roller. 280-340'.
Star Thunderbird - Fresh and stable. Sits in between the FB and T3's. 350'.
Star Teebird3 - Heavier of the 2. Has more HSS than the lighter one. Big hyzers. 330-360'.
Star Teebird3 - Dead straight with a small, baby fade at about 375'.
Star Leopard3 - Fresh, straight to turnovers. 300-375'.
Star Roadrunner - Flippy utility and short range rollers. 280-330'.

Mids:
Luster Champion Gator - Super beef. Big hyzers and flex flicks. 250-275'.
Champion RocX3 - Straight to fade workhorse mid. 265-290' hyzers.
2018 McGlow Roc3 X2 - Got a nice stack to new McGlows to work into the bag.
2017 McGlow Roc3 - Just so straight. Can push these 315' without lateral movement
2016 McPro Roc3 - Beat up McPros that is perfect for long turnovers that have just a sliver of stability left. One is significantly more beat up than the other. 280-310'.

Putters:
P-Line P1x X2 - Straight in the circle putter. Floats well and good for long spin putts for approaching.
DX AviarX3 - Overstable approaches inside of 275'. Windy putts.
D-Line P1x - Point and shoot to 285'. Big turnovers. Flick putts.
