yup he's got up to like 7 destroyers in his bag, so odds are he's got a new gummy star in there along with his factory second roc3's (some are domey some are flat)... he doesn't seem picky and throws what they give him.

Agreed. He probably has general criteria like "Star Destroyers." Outside of that. He's not THAT guy who only throws the Destroyers where Avery signed it differently or a certain factory guy marked it a certain way or the run that Dunipace sneezed in the plastic or whatever.

I'd be the guy who would be like: "I NEED THEM TO BE STIFF SWIRLY BOARD FLAT AND HIGH PLH WITH POP TOP DOME AUDIBLE HEARTBEAT SOUND UPON DEPRESSION" if I were sponsored.

I'm not so sure on this. He continues to throw forehands with the yellow 2013 run of PD2 topped star destroyer. He aced with it in Europe and continues to use it this weekend.

Just because he doesn't seek out old good runs doesn't mean he doesn't seek out recent good runs. For example, he is throwing PDs a lot more than he was earlier this year. Remember last usdgc when he said he dropped them for the thunderbird and had 3 protos bagged. He's not going to use something if there is something that works better available to him.

I bet he's just as picky about his discs as most disc snobs, but does it discretely.

Pro's are given discs. Guys on the course buy discs and make the manufacturer profits. Guys on the course generally like the increased glide + less fade of Gstar, at least in some of the molds.

I do agree that the softer star stuff scuffs/dings up faster than the stiff stuff. But it feels way better to me. Still can be very stable too. I'm sure there will be stiff and soft star available in the future, alongside Gstar.

My Firebird is Star, and is good for me

To your point: I did not like the Thunderbird in GStar at all; went to a Champ Thunderbird and liked it a lot better.

I suspect they give him a bunch and he goes and tries them out and bags the ones he likes. But that's speculation. Whatever he is doing is working for him.
