Default Hello from South Carolina

Just getting started here in Fort Mill SC just on the southend of Charlotte NC. Looks like plenty of places to play. Any advice in purchasing a starter set of discs (type?) would be appreciated.

Nice to see somebody from york county playing. I would recommend getting the innova champion starter pack.

You're in Fort Mill -- might as well say "hello from North Carolina"!
Seriously, having lived in Charlotte for only 8 months or so, I know a lot of locals that have grown up in Charlotte only to now live in Fort Mill for the great SC tax breaks, gas prices, etc.

Charlotte. You're in Charlotte. I would recommend going to Alpine Ski Center, ask them for help. Support Local!
Or try Play It Again Sports, in Matthews. Good deals to be had.
Cloud 9 is local too but a little further away from you.

Welcome....

As far as disc to start out with... I've never been impressed with the " starter pac's"

My suggestion.. one putter, one mid range... That's it... throw them awhile..( basic avair dx, and a Buzzz would do) read up on the forum here and before you know it you'll be looking for a bag to carry all your disc in...

Have fun.

Welcome to the site. My advice would be also a mid range and a putter. Roc or Buzzz and an Aviar. Good luck.

DX Leopard in the 160s.
DX Roc in the 160s.
Aviar putter.

Take them to a field and throw throw throw. Observe how they fly. Throw them differently. Observe. Throw. Repeat.

Oh, and then go play at Elon, the short (Eager Beaver) course, from the short tees. Again and again and again.

You can also try and get hooked up with the Rock Hill Disc Golf Club. I know a bunch of those guys, and they are always willing to help out beginners and point them in the right direction. They, also, aren't an intimidating bunch because they don't come out in droves. PM me if you want some contact information for them.

Welcome to disc golf and DGCR. This is a great site with lots of good information. Like most folks have already mentioned, try a midrange and putter to start. Most important, have fun! Thats what it's all about.
