I'm hoping flattening it would make it fly a touch faster and raise the PLH so it will flip slower on thumbers.

I wonder if flattening it would raise the PLH and make it overstable (I'm guessing this is what you are aiming for). Maybe flattening will just bend the flight plate flat, not do the things that effect stablility (raise the profile?).

The more overstable it is the faster it flips on thumbers

Well, we might be saying the same thing...not sure...but I've always heard (and seen) more overstable = slower flip, meaning it glides upside down longer.

Yeah I think we are saying the same thing...higher PLH, more overstable.

But I think you might be right. I'll pass on the flattening. It's not worth it. The only success I've had on significantly raising the PLH was on baseline plastics.

I have a pretty flat glow firebird that is a hog backhand but flips fast during a thumber and doesnt flip during a tomahawk, from what ive noticed understable flips fast on tomahawks and overstable flips fast on thumbers... Maybe im throwing weird but these are my findings

1. You're reading too much into PLH. Just throw it.

2. I would call your firebird very domey. I bet that will work well for bh. You should look for a flatter disc for OH. You could call one of the kinder online retailers and ask for a flat, light xxx.

PLH was just an observation with the PD that led to a question about max weight FB's vs. 150 class.

I don't need it for BH. I've got a really overstable C PD that covers that slot. So far no luck with finding a board-flat XXX or Firebird from my main online retailer. Anyone have a lead for where to find one? Preferably lighter.

2. I know you don't need a bh disc. I was just complimenting the disc.

Call clearwater, Marshall street, discs unlimited, dynamic discs. I garuntee you'll have a flat xxx in the mail within an hour.

Also, have you been told throwing a lighter OH disc will help with distance? I throw and talk about OH regularly, and have not heard this.

Just assumed it would increase distance. Can you tell me your thoughts here?

Thanks for the help. I'm doing some searching now.
