Default Texas - (Tyler -Austin)

I'm making my way to Austin after Christmas. Starting around Tyler and Canton area. I have 10 days to explore new courses and hopefully meet some new faces. Help me out please. I would like to know what are the best courses down that way. Also, I would be looking for any tournaments/ league rounds to get in on as well. Nothing I can find as of yet. Dec. 25th- Jan. 4th timeline.

Harry Meyers in Rockwall, TX if you're coming through this way. I'm a noob but would be happy to meet up and play a round.

Shawshank is about an hour and a half south of Tyler, and is definitely worth a visit. I know they have doubles rounds on occasion. Just be sure to call ahead.

Selah/Trey Texas are only a few hours north of Tyler (3, I believe, if memory serves correct), and they're some of the best courses I've played.

When you get over to Waco there are the Cameron Park courses along the Brazos.

Excellent. Thanks everyone. I'll make a list soon and send out some pm's. I'm surprised how many courses are in Texas. It will be great focus on the recommended courses.

In Tyler here too. My favorite is UT Tyler. Then the ROC then Lindsey Park. Probably because I'm a noob. Noble E Young is a quick and easy 9 hole course too. All in Tyler.

I second Shawshank. It is a really fun course, and maybe the only chance you will ever get to putt on a basket that has been converted into a fountain. Also Steve will likely be cool about letting you camp there, if that is the kind of thing you are into.

I'll have to save Selah and Shawshank for a future trip. I just couldn't work them in with out rushing it. I found a tournament in Ft.Worth on the 27th so I'll give that a shot. Rough schedule of where I'll be.
Dec. 27th - North Park/ Arcadia Park (tournament)
28th - Harry Myers DGC - Rockwall,TX
29th - Cherry Creek Park - Canton, TX
30th - Lindsey Park - Tyler. TX
Jan. 1st - Noble E. Young/UT Tyler - Tyler, TX
2nd - William Cameron Park - Waco, TX
3rd - Lion's Park/Williamson County DGC - Austin, TX
4th - Circle C Metro Park/Roy G. Guerro - Austin, TX
I left some time for travel and course selection flexibility. If I'm in your area please send me a PM. Would love to meet up for a round. I could use some help on 3-4 best courses in Austin. I just pulled up what had a good rating.
