Default USWDGC

Registration is now open for the 2019 PDGA United States Women's Disc Golf Championship driven by Innova.

Event is September 20-22 here in historic Spotsylvania, VA. Our organizing committee has been hard at work in preparation for over a year at this point in hopes of making this the greatest USWDGC ever. Media will be Jomez and Gatekeeper. Event is also partnering with Empowerhouse, a local charity providing services to abused women. Our goal is to donate at minimum $10k to the charity.

I will be happy to answer any questions to the best of my ability.

Should I fly into Dulles (IAD) or Reagan (DCA) airport? Reagan DCA appears closer on maps, but seems like there could be a lot of traffic.

If cost is at all comparable your best choice is Richmond (RIC). Traffic on 95 north of Fredericksburg can be some of the worst anywhere. If you are coming in between 3 and 7 in the afternoon it is guaranteed to be horrible. The Richmond airport is also way easier to deal with than either of the DC ones. I have always said that the convenience (both on traffic and the airport itself) of Richmond is worth at least $50 a ticket.

If forced to choose between the 2 DC ones I would probably choose Dulles despite it being farther away. The area out there is somewhat less congested than around Reagan.

Thank you. This is exactly what I needed to know. I thought maybe I could spend the first night in DC and then drive in the next day. But I will look into Richmond.

In March of last year our Organizing Committee began fundraising for this year's USWDGC with what we thought was a pretty lofty goal of raising $30k for the event (which included a $10k donation to our charity- Empowerhouse). I am happy to be able to say that as of yesterday, with 5 months to go, we have surpassed that goal. The support of the Virginia Disc Golf Community has been amazing.

I am excited to see what the Spotsy Disc Golf club, the rock and best run club in the state, with the support of the rest of the State can do with their first major. Raising 12k in addition to all of the other tasks is simple amazing.

Here is the welcoming message along with the Caddy Book.
https://2019uswdgc.files.wordpress.c...book_ebook.pdf

Welcome to the 2019 USWDGC
On behalf of the Spotsy Disc Golf Club, Spotsylvania County, the
PDGA, and the Organizing Committee I would like to take this opportunity to
welcome all of you to the 2019 PDGA United States Women’s Disc Golf Championship driven by Innova (yep, it’s a mouthful). We are proud to be able to
continue the legacy established for this event first by Innova in Rock Hill, then
by the Wallis family in Peoria, leading through other great hosts to our position today. One year’s event lays the foundation for the next, and we stand
on the shoulders of giants.

In the 25 years I have been involved in disc golf the game in general
has seen enormous growth and the female side of it has seen exponentially
more. To be writing this today to a field of 170 ladies would have seemed
inconceivable in the late nineties, when I could count the number of ladies
playing competitive disc golf in the entire Mid-Atlantic region on the fingers of
my hands. The road to get here has been long and has been paved with the
dedication and hard work of many, from Colleen Dee, who was the first woman I ever knew to play disc golf, to Carol Quinn whose Virginia Women’s Series
served (and still serves) as a driving force behind our efforts towards the USWDGC. At this year’s event we see the largest field- as well as the largest
purse- of any USWDGC to date. This is not an endpoint, however ,but part of a
continuum that is the growth of the game of disc golf for women.

When we embarked upon this journey 2 years ago, we could not
have imagined the support we have received in the endeavor. Spotsylvania
Parks and Recreation has worked hand in hand with us on vast improvements
at Loriella Park. The disparate disc golf communities throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia have been unified in support of a common goal. This has
truly been a state-wide effort. What we considered lofty goals in terms of
fundraising and manpower have been met and exceeded. We will be able to
support the vital work of Empowerhouse in aiding abused women to the tune
of over twelve thousand dollars.

If I take one thing with me from this event it will be the recognition
of the strength and caring of the disc golf community in general and our local
community specifically. Thank you for affording us this opportunity.

That's a solid first card. I look forward to it, and to seeing the courses 2 hours from me that I'm never able to make it to.
