I still don't understand the logic of the hard, non-grippy inner section (champ, opto, proton, etc).

I think, since it's deemed "opto-G" they are going for a prodigy type scheme, i.e. "400G." So maybe it'll be a grippy, durable plastic.

And, although it may not be typical, I prefer champion-esque plastic, personally.

Actually, I think Opto-G is simply Opto-Gold, as in those are the two plastic blends used. Opto on the flightplate, Gold on the rim.
