everyone's correct - the poll presents a false dichotomy.

saul's comment is the most telling - in a manner of speaking the question might have been - how much do you like your disbelief suspended? if the course is well put together and has unity (design & execution-wise), any 'gimmicks' seem less important (read: less distracting)...not many golfers i've met like the course to 'break the fourth wall'...

i disagree but the inductive method has it's limitations. it's very good for telling us 'what's out there' at certain levels of observation.

Unless this is an alternate account of yours or you've been on here without and account for a long time, you're unaware of who disagrees about what. Who has such strong beliefs about what. Who regurgitates the same false beliefs. Who posts just to stir **** up. Who actually knows what they're talking about. And yes, yes people do still say troll. Are you 16 or something and it isn't "cool" anymore?

Hah!!! Spoken as a true and proper TROLL. I'm guessing you have been called a TROLL before, and now you're all hurt and have to White Knight your fellow TROLLS. And btw, calling people you don't know "bigots" is a surefire way for you to be lumped, very quickly, into the TROLL camp.

One can disagree and not be a TROLL on this forum. Read. You'll see it. Just don't be so myopic about it.

OldFoolDiscer has proven himself time and again to be a TROLL.

I believe the troll's implication is that anonymous, attention seeking posts, on random forums, is now so common place, that there should be no derogatory term for it any longer. Denying science, making up stuff and spewing outlandish statements is now a hobby, for people who don't go outside and make friends. Maybe the new term is attention hobbyist.

Besides, thats not the proper conclusion from your "poll" results.

I've got a question for you. A or B?
A. Oldmandiscer is an ignorant old fool.
B. Oldman discer has some intelligence, but lacks the ability to comprehend the English language.

You are a troll. You probably believe the earth is flat, we never made it to the moon, and the Holocaust never happened.
Check the results, people DO NOT like raised baskets and artificial OB. Maybe the real trolls are very annoying and boisterous so many feel like not speaking up against you trolls.

See all you vocal minority can do is call people idiots and trolls because your ideas are not accepted by the majority. Good stuff.

The trouble with a lot of surveys is that they are biased towards what the surveyor wants to get as an answer. For example, with this post there are only two options 1: Raised baskets AND artificial OB/ropes or 2: standard height and natural rough. What about: Raised baskets and natural rough? What about standard height and artificial OB? What about the 'both work' option? And the 'neither work'? And there's the 'I don't care either way' option.

The current poll doesn't tell anyone 'what is out there'....all it does is support the poller's opinion - as it appears to be intended. I could be wrong on the poller's intent, but that is what I get from the only options presented.
