Of particular interest to me. I had to have a fairly stern talk with my nephew, who recently test positive and recovered from COVID. He was happy to have been done and finished with all the nonsense. Now that he was post COVID, he planned to relax his efforts to distance, wear a mask and take precautions. I tried to convey, to a young adult, the importance of being a leader and setting and example....well, kids are stupid. So, I told him that reinfection was real. Sent me on a quest for more information. Here is some pretty solid work.

Thanks for the link.

Man, I hope we can develop a reasonably effective vaccine. I'm kinda wondering if/when I can feel like I'm living in a "Post Covid" world, and what it will be like.

I just find the whole situation a bit depressing.

This is a pretty bad sign for discussions around length of vaccine effectiveness.

It IS pretty depressing. I give thanks to disc golf every day....it really helped me through this. Winter is going to be a challenge.

I'd be curious about the frequency of reinfection.

I don't have a whole lot of hope no matter who wins.

My state went into full lockdown so we could get our house in order. We were going to protect the integrity of the healthcare system and develop a robust test and trace program. Here we are now ambling along with continued restrictions 8 months later and barely better off then when we started. We don't even meet the testing & tracing recommended for "mitigation" (along with the most of the other states), and we are no where close to the level needed for "suppression" so we could get back to a semblance of normal. Meanwhile I read that China is testing an entire city of 10 million (about the population of my state) in 5 days, because they had one minor outbreak. We'll be lucky to hit that many tests completed by next summer!

I'm pretty sure based on the dysfunction of our government we're going to be struggling by until hopefully a vaccine, or this thing ends of it's own accord.

I think that's a gross generalization of all universities. If you're going to allow frat parties you're going to have problems.

My daughter attends pre-K at a school affiliated with our local university, so I get their weekly Covid updates. They have about 7,000 undergrads. In the past 2 weeks they've had 4 student cases and 1 staff case. Additionally they're doing random asymptomatic testing of 5% of the student body every week. This is way less than our community spread right now, so clearly there's a way to do it. It makes me wonder to some degree if all of our bureaucrats running our various government responses shouldn't be talking to them.

Imagine trying to pull random members of society in for asymptomatic testing?? People are in arms about masks violating their rights. Imagine trying to get them to come in for testing?? Yikes. And those are the people we SHOULD be testing and watching.

I love the idea behind it tho. Glad it's working out In some schools. It gives me a small glimmer of hope that my son will be able to get thru a year of kindergarten. So far, over a month in, they have only had one case in the district where he goes. However, Wisconsin is exploding in cases, so we will see how long that lasts.
