I did this design for my good friend Splash Gordon.
Hes got a hole load of land, dock poles and holes in his pocket ![]() I have played on courses before with target holes like this. But never came across any info on them. So i have made my own 'open source' design for all. Crusin' the local home depot (think lowride kids car cart) tells me that all these materials are readily avaliable in one form or another. Splash! Design considerations. Cheap, Readily avaliable materials, Easy to make, Quick to do. Main pole once installed can be converted to full basket with little effort. All dimensions are in Inches, and to the engineers out there, i know i know! No DIY knowlege needed, measure twice cut once as my old man would say. Or measure once and knock off early to play DG! ![]() Legends of DGCR, Enjoy, comments feed back very welcome, i will update plans as nesesary. Jungle! Sponsored Links

Forgot to mention!
The way this thing works is when the disc hits the larger tube, as thats the only part that counts, there will be a 'dong/ding' to let you know you got it 'in the hole'. The size of the tube is the 'hot zone' of a normal basket. So it shouldn't mess up your game or wallet. |

Tim, you are legendary. This design is even simpler and cheaper than I envisioned when you tried to describe it last week. Thanks Jungle, now I need to get to work on designing the rest of the course. Hopefully I'll visit the cabin in the next few months while snow is still on the ground. Its so much easier to mark out holes, and see the course flow, when all those annoying ferns and underbrush isnt there. Castigador Norte will be a reality.
I could even spraypaint some kind of Jungle and Splash logo on them with a stencil. Any ideas for a cool logo, maybe "J&S", in a cool font. With baskets this cheap and simple, I think I'll have to at least do 18 holes, since space isnt really an issue, and with these, cost really wont be either. Sweeet! |

It will be easier and better to drill the large diameter (0.5in) holes in the poles and outer tube if a small pilot hole is drilled at the intended hole centre first.
Pilot hole should be around 1/8th diameter to make it easy to cut both holes. Centre punching the holesbefore drilling will prevent the drill (assuming your drilling by hand) from skidding around on the cylindrical surface. To centre punch place the 0.5in drill bit on the intend hole centre and tap it with the hammer to leave an indentation on the pole. you could alternatly use a square pole! Jungle. |
