We differentiate bent arm, Swedish, open reach back and closed reach back, why not forehand for closed shoulder(like tennis) vs sidearm for open shoulder(like side arm baseball pitch)? This has been a historical usage.

Well this is destined to devolve into a "Long Iron" vs. "Short Iron" debate isn't it? The thread title still fits just fine though. Switch out forehand with third leg
