An invite for life would give a prestigious event a smidge more prestige. I see no problem with that.

the field isn't big enough to justify this. Not all former USDGC champs are even playing anyway. Once you're actually maxing your qualifiers and don't have to have last week/day qualifiers play, then I'd say that's an argument. But until there's plenty of current players that actually can qualify on their own prior to USDGC week, absolutely let former champs play. Kind of like how the Masters does it.

Yep, he's the only former champion not signed up. Running your own business is no joke, especially in the restaurant industry. Not much time for frisbees working 12 + hour days.

Hopefully the word around the water cooler is correct and Nate and Val will be touring some next year.

I think Nate still has plenty of world class golf in him and it wouldn't surprise me a bit if he were to win another Worlds.

Oh for sure, he's only around 33, basically still prime years. You don't get those years back, I was surprised he pulled the cord on dgolf this early, especially with the sport growing as much as it has.

The again, he's been at it for so long he's probably burned out a bit. I do also think he was dealing with a shoulder injury, so that might have been something to push him into other ventures.

I love craft beer too, I bet he's having a lot of fun. Probably a lot easier on that shoulder.

yea I love Doss as much as the next guy but the lack of a forehand really hurts. his performance at the 2017 Green Mountain Championship definitely shows me that he's capable of playing that level regardless, but man it's tough

Lifetime invites for Champions make sense since this event is run similar to a combination of Majors in golf.

His forehand is serviceable enough, I'd say consistency inside C1 is his biggest obstacle, and the stats certainly back that up.

He's always been among the very best in terms of greens hit in regulation, so that tells me whatever he's doing off the tee is working. It's that C1 putting that's recently kept him a stroke or so behind the Ricky/Paul/Eagle crew that do not miss those. Check the DGPT stats, they don't lie.

I'd imagine at this point he's probably thinking more about family and long term income/business ventures (rightfully so) and less about practice putting twice a day/7 days a week.
