Happy to see someone recommend a Millennium disc. Their base plastic is still one of the best I've thrown.

Especially if he's liking the DX Valk the best, throwing a base OLS would probably be a good similar disc to try. Or just try a Pro Valk.

I really like Champion Roadrunners. My speed 9 lineup is: Firebird, Thunderbird, Valkyrie, Roadrunner. All Champion.

Get one in Pro and G-Star

Discraft has the Mantis, a rather similar disc to the Valkyrie.

Even a Pro Valk will be much better. DX Valks are not a fave of mine, whereas I like the mold, and DX in general. Star or Champ, and you got a friend for a good while.

I've been rocking a Thunderbird for a couple weeks now. Lost my last and only one last winter in the snow. Tried a Vulture earlier this year but...Meh. RR, Thundy, FB and I've been on and off with Sidewinders for 10 plus years. Just got a Pro Orc that I'll be throwing in the snow. Sanded the razor's edge off. That's a 10 speed but flies 9ish in Pro. Don't wanna lose my Pro Wraiths

When I started playing again about 4 years ago, I picked up a fresh DX Valk. The plastic was extremely soft, and I could dig out pieces of it with just my thumbnail.

Within a few months, the wing of that poor Valk looked like the edge of a chocolate chip cookie. I eventually turned it over into the creek and didn't even bother looking for it.

Was there a period of time when DX came out crayon soft? Was it a Valkyrie issue? I haven't seen a DX disc like that since.
