A disc like a Valkyrie or Escape (something with about equal turn and fade) is great for a forehand flex drive... Just throw it flat (or slight hyzer), nice and smooth.

For a bending midrange shot, anny a Drone, Justice, Gator, Demon, or any other beefy as hell mid.

I use a zone or just power down a firebird/xxx for that shot with good results. The more OS the better.

Necro bump. I have a Z Zone that I love to throw for short forehand flex shots. I like it so much that I want to find a driver that will behave the same way. I’m thinking that what I need is a Firebird. Am I correct or are there better discs for this shot?

Depends on how far you want it to go, and how far you can throw.

I can throw my drivers about 350. Id like to find a disc that I can flex out to about 250 or so.

Spirit or Rask. Those you can 3/4 baseball pitch for those distances... If I am understanding what you are needing.

If an FD3 isn’t fading out of your anny, you’re most likely rolling your wrist. You need to work on your form. If you want a short easy fix, get a fast overstable driver.

I personally like a mortar for about 200-250’ flex, Sometimes a Sexton Firebird from 240-280’, sometimes a champ eagle. Scorpius for 300 and up, though I’m not really “flexing” the shot past 325’ or so. More overstable will get right more generally, whereas a disc with some natural turn will go right and finish a bit closer to center. I find throwing at about 75% nice and smooth gives me the best result. Over 325 I’m just throwing a scorpius flat, they turn naturally and power down nicely as well if you want to put some anny on it and play for the skip. The millennium plastic (pro plastic) scorp I throw likes to finish just right of center at about 360’ thrown smooth but hard and flat. Moves about 15-20’ left, then back to the right about 25’ or so.

For my money the flex shot is nice and needed sometimes, but working angles with an eagle like disc that wants to turn a little anyway is much more versatile.

I use a Justice for these up to 350 or so and then the Firebirds take over. The Slab, War Horse, Spirit and Rask are all adept at this shot. At 350 many Of those could be too fast.

RDG Raptor, MVP Motion and Axiom Fireball are all worth a look as well.
