Default Pairing OS molds with workhorse molds

I usually construct my bag with two molds for each speed slot I am filling. One mold is the workhorse, with 3+ discs ranging in stability and possibly plastic. The other mold I only keep one disc in premium plastic. For instance, I would have multiple destroyers in stages of wear and a star Xcal.

What I am finding is that I lose distance on beefy discs compared to their workhorse equivalent. I can throw those destroyers much further than the Xcal despite the same speed rating. I am tempted to change the Xcal into an Ape to maintain the destroyer distance. Likewise instead of firebirds with PDs it would be a teerex.

The problem is now do I match rim widths for repeatable throws and sacrifice the range similarity, or do I ditch the rim widths and try to get the ranges to match.

If you have one setup or the other let me know your thoughts, and put out your workhorse/OS combos as well.

Accuracy over distance. Grip comfort over theoretical distance.

I throw 2 or 3 Thiefs and 1 Firebird.

Usually have one OS disc and one fairly straight one in each slot.

So; Cell-Justice
Stag-Firebird
Jun-Ape

Mainly I do this as the less stable I will backhand the more stable I will forehand or use in a headwind.

You're never going to get the same distance from a super OS disc as you will from a slightly OS disc of the same class. This is especially true for Innova since they rely on a blunted rim instead of just a higher plh to increase stability for the ape, xcal, etc., increasing drag.
You might do better to look for the highest plh destroyer you can find (brick and mortar ftw). Also the prodigy D1 is super beefy in a lot of plastic/color combinations and has the same rim width as the destroyer.

Forget about destroyers, what about Beast with Monster/TeeRex or any other combo? I am not trying to get in the weeds on more stable destroyers.

Every disc has an OS counterpart it seems.
Here are some of my favorite parings.

SP Hurricane with Z Force
Champion Wraith with Champion TR mold TeeRex
Z Surge SS with Z Surge
Champion Valkyrie with Champion Viking
Quantum Orion LS with Quantum Orion LF
I could go on all day, but I won't. Overstability sacrifices distance in the form of glide. This equates to increased reliability and predictibility. A stable disc paired with a similar overstable counterpart is the right way to do things.

I'm not sure you're going to find an OS workhorse that will go as far as a good bomber destroyer.

You could just change your mentality and shot selection and not change your disc set up. Beefy fairway is a firebird shot, Beefy PD is an xcal shot; ect.

Your star xcal will break in to be a stable bomber eventually. Give it a while, but pretty soon it will go 90% as far as your destroyers with more fade.

I don't blame you for not wanting to go down the OS destroyer rabbit hole. Its a pain.

I'd say Champ (or Star) Valkyrie with Champ Thunderbird.

Going further, one could say GL Fury with Champ Thunderbird.
