First round today in 2 months, had some time come up unexpectedly so I only had the 4 discs I keep in the trunk.

DX Aviar
X Buzzz
DX Leo
Champ TBird

Just felt good to get out and throw a bit

Looks like the weather has shifted to Spring here in Missouri finally. I am looking forward to being able to play more frequently now. I am way behind on my DG goals for 2019.

Here is my initial bag set up for the "season":

Putters
175g McPro Aviar - putting
175g Yeti Pro Aviar - driving/approach
175g R-Pro Rhino - utility/approach/FH

Mids
170g DX Stingray - understable
172g X Comet - slight US
175g KC Pro Roc - stable
172g DX Gator - overstable/FH

Fairways
172g DX Leopard - slightly understable/hyzer flips well for me
170g DX Teebird - straight for me currently
172g Champ Teebird - slightly overstable

175g DX Thunderbird - firebird for me

I have acquired a lot of new discs over the winter to try but the weather has kept me from really learning anything about them, hopefully with a bit more time some with work their way into the bag.

Played a couple rounds over the weekend with the same basic bag set up: played average for me both rounds at +9

Putters
175g McPro Aviar - putting
175g Yeti Pro Aviar - driving/approach
175g R-Pro Rhino - utility/approach/FH

Mids
170g DX Stingray - understable
172g X Comet - slight US
172g DX Shark - slight OS (replaced the KC Pro Roc)
172g DX Gator - overstable/FH

Fairways
172g DX Leopard - slightly understable/hyzer flips well for me
175g C-Line FD- (breaking in threw it as a 2nd drive on every hole that I threw the leopard)
170g DX Teebird - straight for me currently
172g Champ Teebird - slightly overstable

175g DX Thunderbird - firebird for me

Its been a bit since the last update, I have played a decent amount for me since the the last update (8-10 rounds) with a few partial rounds when I had time to spare.

My bag is as follows

Putters
175g McPro Aviar - putting
175g DX Dart - long putts/approaches
175g R-Pro Rhino - utility/approach/FH

Mids
170g DX Stingray - understable
175g Star Mako 3/X Comet - I bag one of these to learn a bit better, i usually throw it as a second shot after throwing the Stingray/Roc

175g DX Roc -slightly beat
172g DX Gator - overstable/FH

Fairways
172g DX Cheetah - my current favorite, its hyzer flipping well and I tend to know where its going
175g Pro Leopard - working it in, still a bit more stable than my DX
170g DX Teebird - straight for me currently
172g Champ Teebird - slightly overstable

175g DX Thunderbird - firebird for me

Solid bag. I don't know if you forehand or how well, but the Mako3 was the first disc I was able to throw FH well. Nate Sexton also exhibited his Mako3 forehand skills in the recent Jomez video of the DeLa skins match. Nate took something like $500 in skins with that Mako3 throw.

I can throw FH but I really only trust it with more stable discs. In my bag I feel comfortable using Rhyno, Gator, and the Thunderbird with a FH usually just for certain shot shapes vs distance. I will try the Mako3 though, I did see Sextons shot

For me it took a while to get decent forehand, but I can say that I recommend learning forehand with less stable discs. It really encourages to not roll the wrist over, which makes the disc floppy and turn drastically. Maybe not flippy-understable but with straighter discs than overstable control discs.

Mako3 is great option because if you bend your back and swing it below your own elbow it will stay in that hyzer angle if you don't roll your wrist over, at least with my less powerful forehand. Learning forehand with putters/midranges is also useful for touchy aprouch shots, and you will be able drive forehand when you know that you have good release (less wobble) and you can control the angles, rather than relaying only on that anhyzer release.

Got 3 rounds in over the weekend, one of which I finished at even par (a first for me)

Putters
175g McPro Aviar (putting)
175g DX Dart (long putts/ short approach)
175g Yeti Aviar (throwing putter)
175 R-Pro Rhyno (FH, approach)

Mids
175g DX Cobra
175g McPro Roc 3/ DX Roc - slight fade
175g Star Mako 3
175g DX Gator -OS, FH

The Cobra is a new addition after I saw it on sale, thought the flight numbers matched up close to my Cheetah so I gave it a try. I’m certainly glad I did. It throws easy and well for me, it seems to glide forever without much effort.
The Gator is not my favorite disc to throw but it is essential for a few holes. I did manage to throw one in from about 150’ with it for my first ever eagle.

Fairways
175g DX Cheetah - Hyzer flipper
172g DX Leopard - right finishing shots
172g DX Teebird - straight flyer
169g Champ Teebird - stable

175g DX Thunderbird - FH, utility

Pretty happy with the bag currently, I usually switch out a disc or 2 every week or so just to check them out.

Played a few rounds since the last update, I finished at +4 for all rounds. Looking back on some of my scores from earlier in the year and last year, I can tell I'm definitely improving. I still take more bogeys than I would like but mostly gone are disaster holes that I would have. The putting has definitely helped but I also feel like I don't put myself in as many bad positions due to errant shots. Here is my current bag.

Putters
175g McPro Aviar (putting)
175g DX Dart (long putts/ short approach)
175g Yeti Aviar (throwing putter)
175g R-Pro Rhyno (FH, approach) - starting to lose some of its reliable fade, which is surprising since I had a DX that didn't lose much over time. Ordered a DX to potentially replace it

Mids
175g DX Cobra -
175g DX Roc - beat in, still a slight/moderate fade
175g Star Mako 3 - understable
175g DX Gator -OS, FH

Fairways
175g DX Cheetah - Hyzer flipper
172g DX Leopard - have hardly thrown this lately maybe a candidate to take out
166g DX Teebird - straight flyer
169g Champ Teebird - stable

175g DX Thunderbird - FH, utility
168g DX Sidewinder - experimenting with currently, I can occasionally get it up to speed and get its intended flight but I usually throw it as a second drive on some open holes

Quick Bag Update

Putters
175g McPro Aviar (putting)
175g DX Polecat (long putts/approach)
175g Yeti Aviar (driving putter)
175g R-Pro Rhyno (FH, approach) - also have a DX I'm trying to beat in (super OS currently)

Mids
175g DX Cobra -
180g DX Roc - fairly new (lost the older beat in one to a pond)
175g Star Mako 3 - understable
175g DX Gator -OS, FH

Fairways
175g DX Cheetah - Hyzer flipper
172g DX Leopard - have hardly thrown this lately maybe a candidate to take out
166g DX Teebird - straight flyer (probably accounts for 2/3 of my drives)
169g Champ Teebird - stable

175g DX Thunderbird - FH, utility
168g DX Sidewinder - still experimenting, getting better with it but still have more confidence in the Teebirds
