I just realized that I am "grabbing" more and more, and it's driving me crazy.
I tried some drives without grabbing the disc in any way, and I'm nowhere close to being able to throw. I think I've always done this and it didn't bother me until now. Is it normal to grab a bit on the backswing? Sponsored Links

A few pros do it, like Nikko and Matt Orum. The only time I do it is on short little finesse/pan/flex shots around trees. My Dad just started playing and he finds that it reminds him to keep is arm up and flat, it made a big difference in his shots.

When I first started playing I was a grabber. When I turned pro I got some ridicule from some of the better players so I eliminated it. It's not a bad habit but it did seem to limit my distance.

I do this naturally. I tried to stop it once before, but I went back to it once I forgot to focus on not doing it. Now that you bring it up, I'll try to stop again, and if it really helps then I'll try to ingrain it as a habit. The less things I have to focus on while throwing, the better.

it's generally bad because it usually means you aren't turning away from the target enough, and you can't rotate as fast with your arm flailing about.

I have always done this, as you can see here this is my usual throw.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xabSLF-UjYE I didn't really know I did it until someone pointed it out. Since then I have been working on not grabbing it when I'm going for distance and I have noticed a little more distance. I do yank it a bit right now but I'm still toning it in. I feel like I do get a better reach back and rotation. And its less things to factor in on your throw. |

The only time I put two hands on the disc is while straddle putting.

I'm kinda did it by accident when I first started playing but it naturally went away as my form improved and I started keeping my off-arm pinned to my side.

Not on the reachback, but I've been doing it on the run-up lately. I've been trying to work on my wrist snap and it helps me to keep everything in place.
