Very detailed title, lol.
Must be a forehand disc that can stay low the entire way, but end high enough to not drop in the river which is in front of the basket. I tend to choose a fairway or distance driver, because I cannot get my mids this far on a low line. Still I have problems. Normally I like my 1x champ beast, champ viking, or vulcans for low forehands in the field. But I mess up when it's on a course (recently flipping my 163g star vulcan). I think my forehand run-up is also messing me up. I should probably do a stand-still forehand. What do you all like to use for these shots? Sponsored Links

I'd either sidearm or pd or a nice beefy teebird.

Try flipping a Viking. Don't roll your wrist. Trust that it will stand up from a hyzer.

Star Destroyer...I have a 260 hole like that (sans river), that I need to keep low. I can power down the Destroyer and put it right on the basket.

Why must it be forehand? I throw only backhand off the tee, which is why I ask.
I would suggest backhanding something with some turn, like your Eagle L or Sidewinder. The viking should be stable enough not to turn excessively if thrown forehand, maybe just keep working with that. |

Personally I use an old mold Beast for those types of shots too. I would stick with the 1x that you're throwing and just practice the shot more. You said you can do it when you're not on the course, so learn how to do it when you are on the course. If you have that shot with that disc, then that is the disc you should be using.

I had this shot this weekend, albeit without the river in front of the pin. I threw a 168 flat Pinnacle Patriot.
Reading your post, it sounds like your disc selection isn't the problem. It sounds like you need to put yourself into the mindset you have on the practice field. When I'm facing a tough shot like this, I'm not thinking about making sure that my disc hits this line and fades at this point and skips to that spot. I'm thinking about releasing the disc smooth and with good form. I know my disc is going to what I want it to do because it's done it 100 times before on other holes/throws. It's my body that causes the problems. |
