Comet throwers - how do other midranges fit into your lineup? In my case, I'm trying to bag one or two X comets to wear into neutral/flippy, plus a nice reliable Z comet. With any side or headwind, I would really rather throw a buzzz for forced turnovers, but then I'm still going to want something in between a buzzz and my OS mid, probably a Wasp as I have not been able to find a buzzz that is stable enough for this slot. And then honestly, I would really like to bag a truly flippy mid alongside the relatively stable X Comet - think mirage or tremor.

I end up with like 5 freaking mid molds! How do I manage this? I could cut one or two and just power down a champ teebird for OS mid shots, or power up on a Proxy or something for some Comet shots, but who wants to do that??

I go back and forth between a Wasp and a Buzzz, currently bagging a Buzzz. Throw a Quake for OS stuff, flippy X Comet for US stuff and a domey Z Glo Comet for stable Comet duties. Buzzz and Z Glo Comet do most of my mid work. I don't have much use for anything more US than my X Comet.

Depending on conditions, temperature and wind mainly I pick my Comet and build the bag off that.. It's cool enough now I can use my worn 174 glo Z Comet again as a superb straight flyer with zero fade. When it was warmer I switched to a fresher ESP 170 because it turned less.

I play a small 8-10 disc bag.. My Z Comet has replaced my Buzzz. I usually pack something more stable like a heavy Tangent or Axis, I putt/approach with plasma Envy so my stable slots are covered. If they aren't I will throw something like a Crave or Relay at 250' but a Wasp is what I used to use.

Sometimes I will go 176 ESP for a touch more stability if it's breezy, if it's nasty out 180Z fresh. Then I build backwards, if I'm packing the 180Z I usually take a worn FR ESP 172 for long turnovers. As far as more understable or short understable I use the Spin.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that when conditions are right for me to throw my favorite, I really only need one. If I feel like I need more stability I will pack two or if it is the only mid range I'm packing definitely two.

I have about 4 in Z I rotate through 2 backups, 3 in ESP primary throwers + 3 backups in ESP I don't throw much.

I'm currently bagging 5 midranges in 2 molds:

Fresh DX Roc3 that holds straight in wind and hold a hyzer
Moderately seasoned to straight w/ slight fade DX Roc3
Lightly seasoned ESP Comet that is just straight
Heavily seasoned Glo Z Comet for turnovers or flip ups
Heavily seasoned X Comet that is super flippy

Currently I have in my cart, finishing from right to left
ESP Comet
Z Comet
Big Z comet (Hasn't been getting much use)

TI Buzz SS

ESP Buzz (Replaced a Drone with this but not much use)
Z Buzz

TI Buzz OS

If you looking for something more flippy than a comet you could always try a Meteor.

Depends on your style of throwing too! My comets in the bag right now are: beefy Z Glo comet (will finish with slight hyzer), and a neutral worn in ESP Glo MJ comet for dead straight to slight turn shots.

I throw a Max weight Z archer for my flippy mid slot (hyzerflip turnovers or even rollers!) Depending on how windy it is I have a Z wasp or a Z hornet on my shelf that I throw in the bag.

But it rarely gets windy enough here where the Glo Z comet can’t handle it. Sometimes I just hulk up on my cryZtal zone instead.

So 2 comets, 1 archer, then a wasp or hornet.

I use a comet for basically anything that is a finesse line. Push hyzers, flip ups, slow turning shots, even turnover forehands...as long as it's not too windy. For power straight shots, long hyzers, or forced turnovers, I'm throwing an aftershock (or wasp depending which is in my bag currently) Then theres the drone for "mini predator" type shots.

Even though I only carry 1 comet currently, it probably gets more work than other midranges.

Wasp seems to go well with the beefiest Comet you can find. In my case it's a vanilla Z Comet. I had a GloZ before but felt like I wasn't getting the glide I look for in a Comet. Would not mind trying another one, maybe I'll go a little domier this time if I can.
