Default Disc recommendations after Innova Starter set

Hey All, I'm a beginner looking to get more into the sport after playing a dozen times over the past 10 years. I'd like to add some higher quality discs to my bag that I can learn and grow with. I have the Innova starter set in DX plastic around 147 g (Udisc stats for drives attached) which are starting to get chipped up after scraping pavement.

I realize a higher speed disc probably does nothing for me at this point, so does it make sense for me to get a putter and mid in better plastic at higher weights? Would love any specific disc suggestions. I'm currently thinking of getting a Judge in Classic.

Sounds like you have a good understanding of what's good. I would do just that. Those type of molds in a more durable plastic.

An Innova Roc and Aviar are always two reliable molds.

I think it would be be beneficial to add someone more stable but slow. I think a DX Banshee is a perfect first stable control driver

You’ll want a heavier (175-180g) putter, for sure. Avair is great if you like it, but no need to buy a premium plastic. DX or KC pro.

If you want to stay with Innova, and want better plastic, the Leopard will not fly at all like the one you have been using in Star or Champion plastic. To get a nice flight, premium plastic, similar to a DX, lightweight Leopard, i recommend a Diamond by Latitude 64. In a lighter weight around 160 grams. If you like to stay with the Leopard, which is a great mold, get Gstar plastic.

Curious what 180g putters your using...

Gateway has training Wizards, but not legal for competition.

Guess when I learned putters max out around 175g? Whoops. I putt 172g Deputies. Makes sense why I couldn’t find heavier weights on the shelf (and matching color).

There are some 180 gram max diameter putters out there, I forget what they all are but some are out there like the Caltrop.

Thanks everyone. Going to get a Judge and Buzzz to start out with. Once I get better at driving and can hit 250' consistently with my leopard I'll get myself a Latitude 64 River as a reward.
