Default IDGC road trip.

A group of us are headed down to Georgia from Virginia to camp out and disc golf. Are there any hidden gems or must play courses in the area?

Other than what's searchable on this site? If by "in the area" you mean within a short drive of your campsite, I don't think so. I'm unaware of any secret, unlisted, private courses, or anything so new that word hasn't got out yet.

The IDGC is, of course, a lot of disc golf in itself. Langley Pond is an excellent challenging course in somewhat the same vein; I think it was briefly a Top-10 course on this site. The other Augusta courses are good, not great, and offer a change of style.

If you're willing to detour a bit on your way down or back, and if the timing is right, there might be a pretty good private course I could suggest. Otherwise, it's about a bit more than an hour away from the IDGC.

Do this. It's well worth going ~1hr out of your way.

I might consider Boyd Pond a hidden-ish gem. It's beautiful, plays better in the winter and caters to my Grandmaster rec noodle arm playing style. Or you can use it to build yourself back up after Langley takes your lunch money.

Thanks, guys, but of course I don't know our travelers' agenda---how long they'll be there, how many courses they want to play, and most importantly, when this is happening and whether they'll pass by at a time when Stoney Hill is available.

So I just make the offer. It's about an hour or so more drive time, plus however long it takes to play either or both layouts.

At the risk of, once again, being lost in someone's Great Courses tour, rather than standing out in someone's All Courses Good or Bad Tour.

Hey guy's! Just checked back and wow thanks for the responses and all the info. Looks like we'll be staying in Augusta right off of I-20 I believe, and it's a 30 minute drive to IDGC.

Unfortunately drive time will eat up most of Saturday. I figure I can play a quick round before dark. That leaves all day Sunday and I'll be returning home on Xmas eve.

In which case, the IDGC and Langley Pond should be all you can fit in. With the short days this time of year, maybe just the IDGC.

Second this; I typically go out there to play versus Langley Pond when Im back visiting my parents. Langley is fun but also an insane beat down, while Boyd Pond is just a FUN course
