Default 970+ player rating = Pro?

Is there an upper limit of Adv?

Is there a point where you have to move up to Pro?

Heard quite a bit of discussion about this with people throwing around 970, 980, 985... But I don't see this when looking in the rules, probably I'm just not looking in the correct place. The table shows that adv is 935+ with no limit but then down at the bottom it has Open/Gold with 970+... What does the mean?

Thanks

As long as you have not accepted cash in a Pro division, you can play in AM divisions as long as you like. Also, even if you are listed as a professional(meaning you have accepted cash and had to renew as a pro), you can still play AMs, at non-majors, as long as your rating is under 970.

Wow! And while we're discussing this, can someone explain to me what is par?

OK , in all seriousness -- ask someone you know what a "prerube" is.

Thanks brutalbruts, pretty cut and dry.

Though I have seen it used on here more than once and I have asked around; I still don't know what a "prerube" is. I'm assuming this is supposed to be a joke that I'm not getting...?

Prerube is/was a member that used to give people grief for asking questions rather than trying to use the search function...

Googled "prerube" and searched DGCR but the best I can decipher is it involves searching a topic before asking about it, bringing up an old topic, kicking a dead horse, or the guy named Prerube.

A few pages deep into the DGCR Search provided this quote:

"The prerube is not a troll and being prerubed was an honor. I say was because he isn't around enough for any newer members to really know about him and the history behind the DGCR verb, Prerube."

Haha, I just spent an hour googling and searching for a made up word!

Sorry if my original question was dumb but I did try and search it before I asked. I did spend a while trying to research the topic but only found posts where everyone was complaining one way or another and not finding the definitive answer I was looking for. This forum seems to be a wealth of knowledge so I threw it out there. Don't mean to bump up old, beat to death, conversations about when someone should move to pro or not. Just wanted to know what the rules said due to numerous personal experiences where people were complaining about other competitors' eligibility in ADV/MA1.

Haha! Thanks brutalbrutus, again.

I will search harder before asking beginner questions in the future.

Almost killed the rest of the work day!
Cheers!

Hey, don't worry if somebody gives you a hard time here on the general forums. There is a newer member section where the rules clearly specify not to give anybody a hard time. I'm guessing they didn't look at your 'posts count' before tossing that your way, and I hope they wouldn't do that if they had. Welcome to the site! It's definitely worth the occasional snarkiness.
