Looks like new users are getting stuck in a moderation queue for some reason. I had a few users report back to me...Hopefully people get pushed through the queue in time to vote

AMAZING WORK everybody!!! Holy cow these dyes are good this year!

I don't know...I assume just a queue that a moderator needs to accept or reject new registrants. Basically it won't let them proceed to actually vote until the moderator or system (for that matter) approves them. I had 2 people report that they are getting this same message

"your account has been activated but you are currently in the moderation queue to be added to the forum"

It's to prevent people from starting new accounts just to make one inflammatory post, and in this case, keeps people from voting on the site polls if they've never done anything else on the site. An unknown side effect but it does help cut down on the possibilities of voting fraud.

Put in place to limit random spammer accounts from posting usually.

... although in this case it seems to be backfiring on people who are trying to get people signed up to vote for their dyes in a contest where the whole point is that we don't know who dyed which disc.

***********

Anyways ... SO MANY GREAT DYES!!! Lots of talent on display in both semis. The finals are gonna be a brawl for sure!

Huge props to Bennett for putting this contest on every year!!!

I see what you're saying but in turn this also backfires when we are promoting to a ton of people on fb, hence which a handful of them will likely be new users. I guess we shouldn't be pushing the social networks too hard if we only want the regular DGCR members to vote.

I kind of thought part of the reason to promote it on social media was to get people to register on this site. Either way, I don't have twitter/facebook/instagram/etc, so I just texted the link to like 6 people I disc with - not sure if they had dgcr accounts though.

I'd argue that it was promoted on facebook in plenty of time before the dyes were released for anyone who wanted to join and vote, to do so.

Don't have to be a regular member to vote, but once the dyes are posted and a large number of new accounts are created and start voting on certain dyes only ... it's a little fishy to be frank. The whole point of the contest is that it's based purely off the dye, not a popularity contest.

But Bennett did post "Spread the good word through social media" last night right when they went up, so the expectations for whether this is supposed to be limited to regular members is not very clear.

True ... it's definitely not limited to regular members, new members are more than welcome to vote.

I did go back and try to edit my previous post to this:
