Seeing as how most of The SpinTV vids are targeted towards newer players... could really help show what the flight numbers mean.
This worked great with the NHL... Remember the glowing puck?

The video is great but the content lacks coming from "the Man" himself.
I can just imagine a new player picking up one of these and wondering why in the hell they cant forehand it to safe their life....
Hey guys, lets over think everything and ignore the obvious! And I thought I was a douche....

I think the overmold is the first real useful innovation in disc golf since premium plastic. The potential to get the weight out to the rim without compromising flight plate integrity is still largely untapped. I have some ideas but Dave would have to pay me for them... at least with a handful of discs anyway.

If only there was a company dedicated to working with overmolds and the benefits of weight distribution to the outer rim.

Hey, I never said that Innova was the first. In fact, neither was MVP although they were the first to hype it up and apply it to disc golf.

I never said you said Innova was the first.

I know MVP was not the first either. They are the only.

You'll notice on MVP discs there's a "patent pending?"

MVP's patent states:

Quote:
"What is claimed is:

1. A flying disc, comprising of:
a hub of polymeric material and ... a hub rim; and
a ring composed of polymeric material and coupled to the hub rim;
wherein the hub and the ring have different specific gravities.
2. The disc of claim 1 further comprising a weighting product in at least one of the hub or the ring.
3. The disc of claim 2 wherein the weighting product includes an aggregate material.
... on and on with specifics about materials in weighting, etc. ..."

My guess is that Innova doesn't have a lot of wiggle room to force weight out to the edge of the disc because of MVP's patent, which is why they're not doing it.

Now, interestingly, MVP's original idea was to make a "softer, chain grabbing" rim and put it around a firm flight plate but it didn't really offer much and they scrapped it in favor of their current gyroscopic enhanced approach.

2nd Run Ions have much softer overmolds than current overmolds. They're much better at grabbing the chains.

This was before they switched the overmolding idea to Gyro. No one wants a driver that has a soft outer edge to grab the chains.

Not the greatest comparison. Pucks aren't sold and marketed with their unique and different flight characteristics as the main selling point.

Discs are.

Ooooo. Oooo… Lets compare mangoes to solid-state drives next.
