Heh. A copperhead is also the closest I came to being bitten by a pit viper, though I've had many encounters with them. And yeah, I've been bitten by many non-poisonous snakes while handling them: never left any scars, but king snakes were good at leaving their mark, and black pine snakes strike really hard.

To be honest I don't remember any symptoms at all. Maybe an itch. I was in a remote place and engrossed in the project at hand, so the decision was made to carry on. This was at least 15 years ago and my memory is poor.

Snakes are out in force at the moment around here, mainly king snakes and rat snakes so far, but I’m being very careful that a copperhead isn’t lurking under a log.

Had a mid sized black snake drop out of a tree just a few feet from me today. Didn’t get a good look at the type but it was alarming.

I had a wild chicken hiss and charge at me this weekend.

Had a tournament at a course ive never been to, so I figured ill practice the wooded holes and walk back to set up camp. Walking past the pin of 3 I hear this hissing and flapping so I turn around to see this arsehole chicken coming right at me.

Worst part is, no one but the guys on shrooms all weekend believed me lol

A couple Fun facts:

> Snakes are never poisonous unless you're eating them. They're always venomous (poison is ingested or absorbed through skin, venom is injected)(technically this makes the spitting cobra a poisonous snake, but i've never heard of any on a disc golf course)
> Baby venomous snakes are more dangerous because they don't have as much control over their venom, so they expel as much as they have in their bites. Older snakes can regulate themselves, and only inject as much venom as is needed to kill their prey, or withhold their venom if they're only defensively biting.

I could keep going but anyway stay safe out there and let snakes have their distance if you see one.
