Default Star Thunderbird

Has there been any talk on regular production run Star Thunderbirds? I have a couple g* that I love but would like to add a star to the bag. So far the only star Thunderbirds I am seeing look to be special run or first run with artwork, where folks are wanting more $ than I want to pay for a thrower.

I should add the pro shop varieties are heavier than I like to throw.

I would assume regular production to start in the fall. Can't stand Gstar, but found a nice domey Champ 167. Really want to see it in DX, however.

Yeah, love my factory store Star Thunderbirds, would love a less expensive alternitive. Hope they drop sooner rather than later. I could really get down on some bottom stamped Thunderbirds.

I'd like to see some Star Thunderbirds, also. But I'm not a fan of bottom stamp, so regular top stamp for me, please...

Necro bump.

Can anyone compare the early run Star Thunderbirds that were so overstable with discs such as the FD3? TIA.

I've got an early Star Thunderbird from the summer of '15. Had it sitting in a box until last year & now Thunderbirds are my main driver.

I've been using an FD3 (DoomBird) for about 3 months. Only for FH's.

Yeah, the FD3 is more OS but the main difference that I notice is glide. The Thunderbird is much more glidey where the FD3 doesn't have that lift. The FD3 fits right in between the Thunderbird & Firebird.

My Luster Champion Thunderbirds are more comparable as far as stability but there is still a big difference in glide.

DiscBaron.com still has a Luster Thunderbird available if that's what you're looking for.

Thanks for the info. I have a Star Firebird, FAF Glow Firebird, some 2017 Sexton FBs, and two Star FLs, one of them being an X-out. The Sextons are the best-performing for me out of the bunch.

However, I am using my early-run Star Thunderbird as a glidier Firebird, throwing my Star ThBird where most with faster arms throw Firebirds. So far, this has worked out very well for me.

So I was wondering what I might do should I lose this beefy Star ThBird. My Champ and Pro Thundies are nowhere near as overstable, I might can't find another beefy Star Thundies like those early runs. Maybe that Luster Thundie will work, but in any case I'm wondering if the FD3 or Felon or other mold would work for me.

I wonder if a later run of star thundies will be in line with the typical stability expectation of MF+glow / champ / star / pro etc.

I prefer star plastic over champ (although jolly launcher is great) but don't need the extra beefiness.
