We already have Giant baskets on the DGPT. You might need to raise that thing too.

What would happen to scores and scoring separation if every basket* was set so the bottom of the basket was 1 meter off the ground?

This is a real question, I'm not trying to troll.

* or ~12-15 of the baskets, the other ~3-6 baskets could be a mix of higher and lower basket heights.

Compared to what though a course with all "standard" height baskets? So you are saying every basket is slightly raised? It would make a very marginal difference. A few more misses and 3 putts. But very minimal.

The difference in putting for a Veteran to a Marksman isn't even that great at ~12-15% drop in putting for the Pro players indoors. Of course they hit center pole more often too. You throw great putts they go in on either.

I think shortening and narrowing could bring (name your top pro) who is 88% from 25 feet down to 73-76% which is completely reasonable. Again this is an estimate based on percentages from the Winter Marksman leagues as well as Pro C1X percentages.

75% made putts from 25 feet it still incredibly high however it would be closer to ideal. Then add in an additional 3 putt as well every so often. Now you can 3 putt for bogey! That would be a thing. It's so rare now it's almost shocking to see a top player 3 putt.

You know what would make putting really tough? Several flocks of hungry, p***ed off ostriches running around.

I didn’t read the entire thread but putting on the old Mach I baskets back in the day was definitely tougher than the nicer stuff made these days. Spit outs, split throughs, etc. you’d definitely have to be perfect on those old school types and it’s still not a guarantee it’ll stick.

In my opinion, today’s baskets are awesome. Make the holes or greens more challenging instead. If it’s still too easy for pros, reduce the number of chains to just one layer
