Cool, looking forward to checking that out. It's an impressive shot no doubt.

It's not that she can't throw that shot...it's that it's a very challenging shot to throw and it has a punishing consequence. That's still a 7+2 for two times playing that hole...so 9 strokes over two rounds. If she played it hyzer, upshot, tap in both rounds then that's 6 strokes instead. Another way of looking at it, is she tried that shot 4 times and executed it once.

Again I haven't watched that round and don't know who won the FPO yet, but I doubt there's many birdies on a hole like that.

Edit: Just thinking about it, that'd be the last shot of the tourney. I'm excited to see it.

The fact that she DID make the shot that last round is probably mean that she will go for shots like that every time. . .if she should have missed that shot again she might think twice the next time she faces a shot like that.

But those big numbers cost her, just look at worlds last year. .. and her OB stats for 2019 is insane

I'd like to see her response to this: "At this point in your career, what is more important to you as a player? Playing it safe when needed and taking a win, or continue to challenge yourself with aggressive play?

How soon we forget?

November 18, 2018: Paige Pierce, Dynamic Discs Extend Contract 3 Years

I know some of this talk is in jest, but some of the speculation and "analysis" of her and her game is ridiculous.

Yes to this. Any talk of Paige leaving DD is absurd. She is having more fun and getting more support there than anywhere else she could go, and she knows it. I chuckle when I see comments about her age and that she needs to make changes because of it. Trust me, that's the last thing on her mind. She is in as good of shape as anyone else on the circuit. She plays her style of game because that's what is fun to her, and she hopes her fans enjoy watching it.

Paige has been paid to play all over the world in the last year. They aren't bringing her to these places to lay up. They pay her because she is excited to watch.

Way back when I used to hang around and watch the Open finals I saw a lot of really good players. Climo, Russell, Schultz, Brooks, Hambrick...guys who could flat-out play. Very consistent, executed the shots, always in contention, usually winning. I would not have driven 15 minutes out of my way to watch any of them. Scott Stokely could throw a disc a freaking mile, took aggressive lines that nobody else threw, executed some magical shots and also got in huge amounts of trouble that cost him wins. I'd have driven a mile and paid an entry fee to watch the guy play.

When you play smart disc golf and execute all your shots, it can get pretty boring. When you take chances and get bit some of the time, it's called entertainment. Disc golf needs to be entertaining. It's not very good for a player personally to be throwing away 1st place checks with over-aggressive play, but it's very good entertainment for disc golf as a whole.
