Default EPT #4: The Open

How do we get some Americans and top level players to come all the way up to the Swedish west coast?

Same week as Idlewild but on the other hand the week after konopiste.

I got a house but I mean there's 4 sleeping spots and I can't even afford to send the GF to the spa.

I suspect that, short of paying at least a portion of airfare and lodging (and possibly an "appearance fee," especially since many of the top level players have "pro agent representation"), or convincing their sponsors to do so, it's going to be a hard sell.

There are unfortunately not that many things you can do to get american players to play, even though the timing is perfect with Konopiste. Ale Discgolfcenter, despite being an absolutely amazing property (tied with Järva for the bast place in Sweden), is still young and doesn't yet has the recognition it deserves.

All I know is that Jonas (Grunden) is already trying to motivate some players to come to the event with some comments on Facebook.

What you can do though is to tell the staff (Jonas or Christer (Köhler)), that you can host some players and they can use it to "attract" some players.
I'd guess that, the tournament being sponsored by Lat64, you could expect Ricky at this tournament. Jeremy Koling also came to Ale 2-3 years ago, so he might be interested to come again.

Anyway, I'm 100% sure that this tournament will fast become a must-go tournament for European players as well as International players and I can see it becoming a Major in a couple years (especially if Järva disappears ). The only drawback being the "relative" isolation of the course with lodging places, especially for people that don't own a car.

I can't wait to play there again in July
