Default CTP Tie

One of my buddies told me recently he was playing a tourney and on the CTP hole, his disc was actually stopped by the CTP flag and came to rest in the same spot as the previous CTP card signer. Somebody got closer so neither my buddy or his lie doppelganger got the CTP but would/should a TD rule on that if that had held?

If it were me and I had enough prizes I'd award them both, otherwise make them do a sudden death CTP?

If it was a cash prize, just split it. Merch is a bit harder though. The TD might not have extras, so I could see where having to make them throw off for it is needed.

I encountered something similar a while back (started a thread about it). I feel like you should have to beat the existing CTP outright to move it or mark your name on it, but that's just me. And it's primarily because of the reason brutalbrutus brings up...if it's merch, how do you split it?

As a TD, I don't want things to be complicated when it comes to side games like CTPs. I just want to call a winner and hand out the prize at awards. I think if there was a tie, I'd call both names and let them sort it out on their own. Same as I would with a tie for 3rd or 5th in MA2. Split it, play/throw off for it, do whatever you want, I don't care since officially it makes no difference.

Flip a coin.

Or a disc.

It's just a CTP.

Throwoff. It's more fun than flipping a coin or splitting, it's a little added excitement for the players and a little extra drama for spectators.

We had one last year where two aced the hole where we had a Zuca cart CTP prize. I wanted to have them throw it off with everyone watching just to put a little pressure on. Players decided between themselves that one would buy the other out. Not as much fun from my end, but they were both happy and that's what matters.

Steel cage match with table and chairs seems like the only sensible answer.

I think its hard to 'tie' a CTP...

I agree with JC17393 that the 2nd thrower should be closer than the (current) CTP owner, but this comes down to the integrity of the 2nd thrower. If the 2nd thrower thinks they are a millimeter closer then they can technically move it, but it would be hard (for me) to justify moving a flag that is that close...

I was about even with another guy on my card for a recent CTP. I was scoring better, so I let him take it. Wound up being almost $40. Probably won't do that again...

Give the option of split or sudden death if cash. If it's a prize and there's only one then it's sudden death throw off for sure, right?
