Default The pull-through

I learned the bad habit when I started of throwing my backhands far away from my body, so I'm not getting the full torque and power through that I should be getting. I have heard several people explain it to me. The person that I play with regularly always points it out. I'm just not sure how to correct it. I feel like even when I try and stand still and just pull through my body without throwing a disc and just holding it, the stance feels awkward and I feel like I'm not going to generate any power. Any suggestions?

I read a comment in a different thread saying to try this:

Pick up a brick and hold it like you're about to throw a backhand disc golf shot. When you reach back and throw it forward, you're not going to be able to swing your arm out and throw the brick very far. Rather you'll find that reaching straight back and then pulling through, you incorporate more of your core/hips to generate the power needed to heave the brick.

I've also used the analogy of starting a lawnmower. Reaching straight out and then pulling through on a straight line.

" start the lawn mower " but lead w/ your elbow. like swinging a baseball bat
for a line drive. in the beginning, you might bring the disc TOO close to your body.... robbing a lil power... but imho, it's a good starting point.
