Default Sheffield Park - Oldsmar, FL

New gold course in northern Pinellas county between Clearwater and Tampa. 8,500 feet long! As of today, only missing one concrete pad and two baskets. Par 64/18 holes.

From the Tampa Bay Times, should be up and running early summer.

Great complement to the very wide open, but long, Trinity course further north. Rivals Cliff Stephens and Cypress park for difficulty factor. Work in progress to reach the clean quality of Taylor park. Only one short pad so far, so not anywhere near beginner friendly.

My favorite new course!

Wellsbranch250 recently told me about this one. He said he threw one on it with the course designer. I look forward to playing it, when the short tees are in.

Anyone know who the designer is? I didn't see anything mentioned on Gregg Hosfeld's World Champion DG Design website. From Google Earth it looks like it has a lot of open space.

I test played it with the designer months ago. Trevor toenjas is the course designer. He asked me to post the course in a few weeks, as It's still under construction. Feel free to ask me any questions about it. A few notes. A 1000 rated player will struggle to make par. 8600 ft. Par 62. Course is set to open in early summer.

Did it have baskets months ago? The first par 5 is particularly brutal in record florida heat this week. No shade and rock hard ground, no avoiding long skips.

Post the length of the holes when you get them, especially the par 5, 5.

Correction, it is par 64. Not 62 as I indicated on a previous reply.
Other course notes. 6 heavily wooded holes, 6 moderately wooded, 6 lightly wooded shots. There are bomb-it and placement par 4. Several gold par 3s are over 400 ft, with longest at 471. Water comes into play 8 times. There will eventually be 4 sets of tees. Gold, blue, white, red.

Course Update - site visit on 5/26/17

This course has a ways to go. Scheduled to be complete in a month or so, but i don't see it. 100's of volunteer man hours are needed to get this course into shape.

This course is wicked hard. Not to offend, but I do not agree with the first comment, to say this course rivals cliff or cypress in difficulty. Way way tougher, like 4 or 5 throws. The worst i ever shot on cliff or cypress is +8 from the backs. I shot +11 (75) from the gold tees using improvised targets on (4 and 12). My worst round on a Florida course in 4 years. The course may be moderately wooded, but the Brazilian pepper lined fairways are a stoke penalty every time you stray into them.

Cliff 8700 ft par 77
Cypress 7900 ft par 66
Sheffield 8600 ft par 64

Hole 2 - Par 3 - 471 Feet - Basket pockets right. Water on left, Brazilian pepper trees right.
