The point I am making is that drills are not a bad thing, they do help. But so does going out to a field, clearing the mind and just throw the discs. I highly doubt the big throwers like PP, Eagle, Lizotte, etc, spent all their time in forums and with coaches going through analysis of their mechanics and doing endless drills. I'm glad I never took driver's Ed. and just stole my parents car keys and learned it the natural way. Trial and error right? If only surgeons would start doing it this way we might get somewhere as a country.

I give clinics on a regular basis. The 9-10 year old kids who have been playing a bit virtually always have better form than I will ever be able to teach them. They see things either in real life or on video and can imitate them without having to break it all down step by step.

And thousands more learned to throw discs far before RoDeO's philosophy and many learned before that RoDeO's philosophy(which is not novel) doesn't always work. It typically only works for kids or if the player has translated previously learned skills from other sport background.

PP, Eagle, and Lizotte all grew up playing disc golf with parents that played disc golf and had local world class throwers they learned from, and there is a big difference between learning as a kid vs adult.

Paul McBeth and Tristan Tanner and Thomas Gilbert spent a lot time working on mechanics and analysis and drills. Dave Dunipace coached a lot of distance champions before disc golf forums were really a thing.

Nobody is saying to not throw discs in the field, but you manufactured that argument yourself.
