Why do I see no disc carts being used in the videos of tournaments?

Watch anything with Schultz or Schwebby and you will more than likely see disc carts in use. I noticed Nikko using one as well...I think you don't see many in the big tourneys because people tend to use a caddy instead.

Cale has often had his in tourney videos.
Sarah Hokum appeared to have a Ridge Roller in the livestream cutover that Smashboxx did today. Etc, etc. |

Luckily they get caddies so they don't have to look stupid pushing a cart

The caddies are primarily in the higher end tourneys, not all of them though. Also, they have to pay their caddies, so for the caddy to be worth the cost instead of just getting a cart to push around, the caddy better have some insight on the course that playing several rounds before the tournament starts doesn't give the player. You don't see the female players with caddies because they are too expensive for them. I haven't seen any masters coverage so I'm not sure if it's the same for them or if they take the tradeoff of not having to lug around a heavy backpack as value enough to pay for it. But even in ball golf, they all have caddies because it is their insight that they are paying for, not for them to wheel their golf bag around, that's just a bonus.

I think part of it has to do with availability. Delta and Ridge Roller are relatively new to the market. Before that you had the Go-Cart from Gotta Go Gotta Throw and do it yourself project carts. Like most new things it takes a while for people to warm up to. Maybe someone knows for sure but wasn't Revolution the first company to offer a backpack option for disc golf? It took quite awhile before any other company came out with an alternative. Now backpacks are everywhere.

In the long future, I imagine electric carts (some places have this) - then the bag can be installed in the back of the cart like golf bags. In a non-caddied event, I would bet there are more carts out there, as mentioned above. |
