For what it's worth, I don't want to change the baskets either, on either level.
The topic keeps coming up from pros: https://youtu.be/CAthH3CoDKA?t=2992 And if that happens I don't want to watch the pros play Idlewild on Marksmans baskets and then I go play Idlewild the next week and the regular baskets are back in and I can't compare my score to theirs. This method gives flexibility to experiment with that and let each TD and local club decide how they want their courses set up. Sponsored Links

Steph Curry makes too many 3's. Let's make the baskets smaller.

Marksman baskets have been around for a while. If this was a good idea, I suspect someone would have run demonstration events with them, to great acclaim.

Make em shorter, not skinnier.

And make the baskets 30 feet tall while we're at it. These pros are getting too professional.

Except for those aces that actually happen, of course.

i'm not necessarily in favor of changing baskets for the pro tour, it will never affect me and i don't really care
but it's weird that there is not one reasonable argument posted here so far against it, just a lot of non-sequiturs and personal opinions. i'm not $hit-talking those opinions, i'd just like to see a well-stated case against changing baskets for the pro tour.

Golf/disc golf has the unique ability to update their courses to add challenge. The challenge in other sports is the Human competition. If basketball was only played like the allstar 3 point contest, that would become too easy and it would need updating. Making a 3 pointer isnt hard, making it against another super athlete is the difficulty. I vote for a smaller basket, maybe not bullseye size, but def not the current size. The new courses being installed are constantly adding more difficult distances/o.b./design. It would be error to not entertain smaller baskets as well. One thing i know for sure, if i got a legit 350ft ace on a bullseye type basket i would never forget it because i know it would be rare. Simple fact, all current baskets catch bad putts. Also, all current baskets DONT catch all good putts.

You want it to be perfectly fair? Go back to basics then.
Tone poles. They don't spit out anything. Problem solved. |
