I had just put it on there to make sure it would work. I took the whole rack off for the rest of the day. But I leave my basket in my carport all the time and never worry about it. It rains a lot so I putt in the carport.

I would change the base from the wheel to an x or * shape.
And make it out of square tube the same size as a hitch.
Slide one leg in and pin it.

Yes I had thought about that. My issue was at school I had a random spare rim, 1/4 inch steel and the mig welder. So in 30 minutes I had the base to my basket. Being round and a deep rim the basket can sit and be very stable, whereas a flat X shape base can rock around some.
