I understand not wanting to be "that guy" out of the gate - In my experience however I recommend simply leaning in - once you've determined the sport is for you, I say skip the half measures and go straight for the gear you're really going to like.

I remember when I started playing street fighter when SF4 came out, I showed up to a small gathering at my local fighting game scene but opted not to bring my madcatz arcade stick, afraid I was going to be seen as "that guy." As it turns out, everyone had their own tournament edition stick - the equivalent of a Grip bag vs a little over the shoulder number for disc golf. I upgraded shortly thereafter and the rest is history... same with pretty much anything else I've gotten into. If the community is worth its salt, there will be little judgement! Even in the skateboarding/longboarding community which is notoriously anti-poser, being a beginner just requires a little wherewithal and the right attitude.

I bought a grip c15 for my first bag because I wanted something that was comfortable and that would meet my disc golf needs and storage...after playing for 4 years I recently started to play in tournaments and got a pound ocothaul...last bag i will need.
