Has Vegas ever offered odds in a tournament ?
Sure would lay a lot of $$ on Kevin Jones next year, especially at The Memorial

Win, place, or show? You'd get some good odds, I'd imagine, but is the kid ready to beat the top dogs?

Although there is starting to be a lot more stats out there about all the players, I doubt Vegas feels there is enough information at this point to put their money on the line, and not enough interest for it to be worth their time to do all the research, maybe in the future.

If somehow they were convinced to offer disc golf tomorrow, the odds would probably be really conservative and more in Vegas' favor than usual in case they've overlooked some aspect (really bad for bettors) as opposed to ball golf where the odds are mostly accurate aside from the vig.

At this point, and for at least the near future, the only option is to bet among friends

I think there was a Euro website that took bets on Disc Golf. A link was posted here a year or two ago.

I'm not aware of official Vegas betting on disc golf. Other posters have suggested reasons for this, which basically come down to scale and 'legitimacy'. As for the 'vig' which is short for vigorish, it is merely the oddsmaker's cut of the bet or 'administration fee' and doesn't not affect odds, merely one's calculation of the bet's worth to the bettor.

In the past there have been several 'unofficial' bookies taking bets for larger events, notably Worlds in the early 90's. As I recall, the only options were bets on individuals with their payoff odds. My memory is a bit foggy on this point, but one year Climo was favored @ 1 to 3 (you win 30 cents for each dollar you bet, if Climo won). As it was 'informal', this particular bookie didn't take a vig...

Despite the fact that the gambling industry is filled with corruption (and other sorts of more pernicious crime), I am always puzzled by the US's strange 'mixed' stance towards it, as if governmental oversight (lottery) and limiting it to small areas (Nevada, NJ) legitimizes the practice. Caveat emptor.

That mixed stance must be loosening, because casinos haven't been limited to Nevada and New Jersey in a long time.

There are casinos in every state, but 96% of them do not have sports wagering.
