Default Numbered runs of a disc

Whenever I read a thread about Milennium or Infinite molds, I am fascinated by the mention of how different runs fly. I have a run 8 Sphinx, and a 1.9 Sirius. Folks like the flippiness of 1.7, or some quality of run 4. Amazing stuff.

Wonder why more companies don't do this? It gives a plain vanilla disc a vintage, like the 2016 Sexton Firebird.

I have to say I have owned specimens of special runs of discs: the early super OS C-Line FD, the original super gummy OS DX Thunderbirds. Sadly all gone.

Thoughts?

Numbered runs of Destroyers would alleviate so much confusion.

But with Innovas stellar quality control, even discs in a "run" could vary wildly. Granted, the odds of them being more similar are much better, but some runs could be a week long, and lots can change in that week.

I've seen plastic parts molded just hours apart look like they could have came from completely different molds.

The numbering system works well until there's a run that someone that loves sharing info on the internet doesn't like, and it sits on shelves for years because we suck as an online community. Unless it's a large enough company that could weather the storm, that could spell the end.

That's a fantastic point also that I'd never considered. Could make some runs totally undesirable, and therefore, unsellable. But, if you couldn't tell, you can buy them unknowingly. And probably have to buy more because you bought a "bad" one on accident. Making the company even more money.....

its like the avery destroyers

when they came out every one hated them and swore them to be the worst

however they still didnt sit on shelves for long and now are going for a high premium

then everyone said the paul macbeths were os turds

and then people still eventually bought those and now high premium too

Same for the 11X CA TeeBirds. They were "flippy garbage" when CALs were still prevalent. Now, people only care about the 11X. People also wouldn't touch the early 12X when they were new stock even though they were the same cloudy TBs as the last 11Xs. My favorite TB at that time was a 12X. Well, until I found some pearly KC Pros of course.
