Seems to be just the current trend.

A while ago, it seemed that beaded mids weren't popular anymore either. I just think those who are tried and true to there game don't chatter as much.

it could just be the variety of putters today from different brands vs the past.

I bet that a TON of pros used non beaded aviars (and disc crafts equivalent) back in the day but there were only two major disc golf brands.

Now there are a lot of viable alternative brands. Instead of putting with a old school aviar P & A eagle and Simon and sexton putt with P2.

locastro and Ricky... and the majority of the prodigy pros putt with the gateway, dynamic, and prodigy versions of the KC Pro Aviar with bead.

Sponsorships mean a lot.... think about Ricky putting with wiped kc pro aviars when he wasn't innova. Likewise the wizard is still probably the most popular putter amongst the general public, but gateway doesn't have the sponsorship muscle to get those top pros. Likewise with the ion from MVP.

Ions kick ass.

Weird, since most people I know use beaded putters. What's up with Oshkosh?

Yep all of the ions and wizards have suddenly disappeared. I've heard they are hanging around with all the lost socks right now. Hope they find their way back. What a dumbazz post.

The P2, McPro Aviar, and Nova all come to mind.

Every pro used one of them too. What happened? Today it seems like everyone is using some sort of beadless putter. Why are beaded putters now obsolete?

McBeast likes a beadless putter.

Nothing has happened to the beaded putter it is alive and well. Plenty of people still use and love them and still sink plenty of outside the circle putts with them.
Like many other things DG-related, it's a personal preference thing. There are now more beadless putters out there, so there are relatively more people using beadless discs. But I'm not sure they're really overtaking those that like beads. The Judge is still much more popular than the Warden, as one example. The Challenger, Wizard, and Dagger (as August Dupree says above) are still immensely popular, and the Warlock is not overtaking the Wizard by any stretch.

The Warden. Still not on par with the (beaded) Judge, but it's becoming (more) popular.
