That hole would be boring as hell without the gimmick, even if it had a thimble sized basket. A smaller basket would make it more difficult to score a deuce, not more interesting or enjoyable.

Oh, but forehands can be easily punished if they skip too hard to the right. Fade too hard to the left and they also knurl down the hill.

There is a drop zone that takes you right back to the line between the branch and tree trunk. If you want bogies all day, go for it, Chachi.

I find mandos restrictive and annoying. Why don't they mandate throwing a roller too? Or left handed? Or overhanded? Which is why I guess I think artificial OB is silly. The you can't land here bit. Too many restrictions.

I feel like the player should have the freedom to play the hole how he or she pleases. Mandos should only be for safety only. OB should only be for property lines or roads.

In that regard, give course designers the FREEDOM to make artificial OB or elevated baskets. Boom - full circle.

So my original point was doing the best with the land you have available. Ball golf has the money to create "natural" obstacles out of nothing. Good course design in disc golf on limited resources means that sometimes you have to artificially force a fairway to challenge the player.

And if you believe this poll you presented is valid and reliable enough to draw a conclusion of most disc golfers, you're lost my friend. Several negative responders on this very thread, including myself, saw the bias in the phrasing and did not vote in the poll. And if you think the respondents are representative of competitive disc golfers as whole, then we can just agree to disagree. I think that is in no way representative.

All OB is artificial. Nothing in the books requires anything be out of bounds.

We should make players have to kick the disc in from within 6 feet. Since we are making up gimmicks then every other tee shot has to be left handed too.
