Default Long putt or Ace?

At what point do you call and ace a long putt? if the hole is under 150ft? 200? i mean not to diminish anyones accomplishment but when is an ace more like a long putt rather than an entire hole?

It's a fine distinction. Technically, you could call any hole "aced" if you made it in one. The question is, at what distance would YOU start being proud of accomplishing it?

an ace is an ace if its your first throw from the pad? my aces have ranged from 165' to 332'...theres a course at green lakes near syracuse, NY where there a few holes that can be considered putts..one hole is a mere 90'...im sure some of the carolina boys have simliar holes(durham for one?)

My aces have ranged from 160-290, but if I ever threw from the tee and made it the first hole it's an ace, but a 90' ace does seem to be a little less then great, it's still an ace though and should count as one.

A first throw is an ACE but I think I need to go find some of these short holes you are talking about. I have never seen any under 100 feet and the ones under 200 usually have obstacles that make an Ace very difficult.

there is a 75 foot or so hole at the park near my house and my friend has hit the chains or basket like four times. i would be proud if i hit it because it would be my first ace. if i hit a 200 footer first then obviously not really.

I agree with the first throw being the ace, but with that said, I wouldn't be proud of it unless it was at least over 100'

under most conditions and little to no up hill elevation, I jump putt around 100' and making it from the tee when doing so would feel like just a long putt

however, even if it is a legit ace, playing a course you know is stupid easy when you are an experienced player just to beef up on aces will lower my opinion of that person's accomplishments if I know that is what they have done - and what fun is getting a lot of aces if you can't brag about them and feel good doing so?

I agree. However, my first ace was with a wizard when i first started. I hit hole # 2 about 90 feet at the university of Idaho. It was hidden in what appeared as a cave that was not visible from the hole. It felt good becasue I had not been playing for long. If it was now, I would feel like it was just a great shot. My last two putts have been around 200 and 335/350 so I have felt much better. Even better, they were both during tournaments in front of the pros both times and with an ace pot. That felt MUCH better.

Rutgers has a hole that is only 50 some odd feet. I emptied my bag twice trying to get my first ace... I know it's cheap but aces are aces. I've hit the chains on some big holes and will get one someday, hopefully when an ace pot is involved!
