I was there the year after the flood. I don't recall dead trees but every tree had a ring that was about 10' high, I might be wrong with the 10' it was a long time ago. That was the water level of the flood.

I have a lot of pictures of CC from that year, I'd have to find them and scan them in. I think most of the pics are of the lake across the street but I know some are of the course.

These are the only pictures of the course I could find so far. They were taken the year after the flood.

Does anyone know if this course is still in? I am thinking of playing it tomorrow, but don't want to gamble with the time to drive there.

Yes, it is still in.

The 1993 flood was a 100-year flood. The rivers crested right around 20' above flood stage. At the park itself, the rings from the water level were way up over your head so it very well could have been 10'. My memory gets bad, but the water was up for quite some time. The park was underwater for several weeks in June-July-August. Right after the flood about 1/2 of the trees came down. It really did destroy a lot of what made that course what it was. It was cleaned up fairly quickly considering, and we were playing it late that fall (with big puddles of casual water.)

Juy Dub might remember, but the course flooded again not long after that. I think it was around May of '95. It wasn't as bad of a flood, but after that the County pretty much threw in the towel and declared it floodplain with the lowest mowing priority. Basically it only got mowed when all the other mowing was done and they didn't have anything better to do. The lack of mowing has been the big problem there for the last 15 or so years. Now that the County is broke and they are cutting back on mowing even more, it's not going to be mowed at all.

Damn, 15 years too late as usual...

But yeah, I better check it out while I still can. Hopefully the grass isn't ridiculous...

As far as Easter, I get a break this year as the wife took the kid on vacation with the mother-in-law. And my own family would rather me enjoy the nice weather.

Not that my in-laws are psychopaths, but my family is sooooo chillllll that it seems like it in comparison.

EDIT: Thanks for the info!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The parks decided to tlet the STLDGC board members decide when to throw in the towel for the season. Obviously we will hold off as long as possible. It is probably safe to assume that the end of April is as far as they will let us take it, so...

The course will re-open when they do the late fall, getting ready for winter, seasonal mow. That will probably happen around the end of September or early October. Yes, it totally sucks, but we at least will get a good chance to refurbish all of the old Discatchers.
